It's sci-fi that doesn't take itself seriously, and it's worth it. It's so worth it that it has a full page of tropes used. No great understanding of pop-culture in the era of the comic is needed to enjoy it, either. All you really need is a lot of time to binge-read it and some very basic understandings of sci-fi.
