My friend who goes to CMU has been farmng for this one ship (Amatsukaze) in Kancolle for weeks. He has a daki, wall scroll, action figure, oppai mouse pad, etc. all of Amatsukaze. He's been considered very unlucky, because all the other people in our community got her with relative ease. So unlucky that it became a running gag, a meme. Last night was the last night of the event, so it was the last chance for him to get her. About 50 of us were watching his stream on Twitch.
It's 1:30 AM. Suddenly, he gets the drop.
For 10 minutes, we go wild with congratulations while he just sits there and cries. We spend another good half hour celebrating, and then he's like, "Okay, I'm going to marry her by the end of the week." It basically means getting her to Lv. 99. Which is crazy to do in such a short amount of time (all ships drop at Lv. 1).
Meanwhile, a handful of other members and I posted screenshots, memoranda, odes, declared February 21 a national holiday, etc. Oh, and he's the admin of the Facebook group. A bunch of them are the Kancolle community at CMU, by the way.
Then he pours a whole glass of vodka and drinks it all. Over the next 35 minutes, he drinks seven more shots. His BAC% should have reached around .170, and in the mid-300s there is a moderate chance of death. So quite literally, he was halfway dead.
We watch him progressively get worse throughout the night, until at around 3:30 he becomes completely drunk and starts doing crazy shet. (By that time Amatsukaze was Lv. 20) Worried that he was about to sink one of his own ships or even get banned, we have his roommate come over and drag him out.
He goes MIA for about half an hour, and then posts a picture on Facebook of 10 shot glasses full of some blue drink. Probably was more alcohol.
He said he drank it all, and his typing was terrible. Couldn't even type all of his curse words correctly. Ends up typing "ana-chan" and starts threatening to "fucking scrap all of you" if we made any mention of his typo. Scrapping means to break down a ship for resources in the game.
There was other stuff that happened, but they were so shocking that I couldn't begin to explain them.
Gah. What a crazy night.
