In order to obtain shinies easier, apparently people must start chaining!

Highest I've gotten is 12, which isn't that bad considering I started only an hour ago.

AND GOOGLE IT IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS.

I've tried a few times. I always end up failing. :\

I also don't have the patience to chain either... or even EV train for that matter. I want to, though.

I attempt it every once in a while. From what I understand, you only have to get the chain up to 40 and then the shiny rate stays the same after that. I've only made it to about 25 or so, though. I just don't think it's really worth the huge amount of time it takes up.

Oh I read somewhere today that you can get shinies before 40, too.

    I got up to 29 though with Bidoof, so eventually 40...XD;

Yeah, I know shinies can appear before 40. It's just that after 40, it always has the same chance of being shiny, whereas before that it becomes gradually more likely.

Either way, maintaining a chain all the way to 40 is a very daunting task. :/

I just want to see what Pokemon are easier to chain for - because Bidoof was highest, with Tyrogue second highest which is sorta weird.

Once I read a tutorial by someone who suggested trying to chain with the swarming Pokémon of the day. I don't know if there's anything to that, but I tried it with swarming Corsola and that has been my highest chain to date. Might be worth a shot. :D

    Mhm I read that too. Though I went to the area and most I could get were chains of a non-swarming Pokemon. XD;

I remember chaining back when I was really into playing my Pokemon Diamond version. However, as time moved on, I stopped chaining because it was just too much time and I never really got any luck with it. I think my highest chain was about 20 with Starly. I never got a shiny. D:

Uhh I used to be a chaining pro. Imo, the easiest to chain was definitely Ponyta. I chained these shinies in Pearl:

    1 Corsola
    3 Absol
    1 Voltorb
    7 Ponyta (fainted 1)
    2 Nidoran M
    4 Banette
    1 Skitty
    1 Buneary
    1 Shinx
    4 Buizel
    3 Ariados
    6 Venomoth

I have only trained Absol, Luxray, Floatzel, and 1 Rapidash/Venomoth. So... You other guys are not missing out since I haven't used most of my shinies. However, I have pics if anyone needs inspiration. :DDD

Correct, 40 is like the cap line; chances of finding a shiny is 1/200 then on. Just keep resetting the radar, not increasing your chain. ^_^

My highest chain was probably around 30... It was really tedious and boring, so I started just breeding shinies...

Damn Bidoff would always break my chain of Ralts Dx

I use to be a beast at chaining when I played.

I could normally get to 40 in no more than 5 attempts. Though, when I got to 30+, I normally just stopped chaining and reset the radar and waited for the little sparkle.

My longest one was 102 times and then I gave up.
Then my sister tried 4 times and found one. -.-

Most I got was 28. I'm not good at it by any means. :(

Oh btw update...I got to 40, kept resetting and sort of got distracted and forgot to use max repel one time, had to start all over again. D:

I Googled it, and I'm afraid I still don't understand. So I guess the answer is no. Unless I'm doing it unknowingly.

Um. You turn on pokeradar and then walk into grass patches that move, if you beat that Pokemon, it can reappear at another moving grass patch. If that happens 40 times you are likely to get a shiny soon. And sometimes the Pokemon just may stop appearing (if you walk 7 patches too far away or something else) and your chain ends.

I've tried it two or three times with absolutely no success. :(

Not that any of the Pokémon I like can even be chained--except Pichu, I guess. @_@
