Do you have to lock EVERY Thread that a Mod didn't start.

You mods lock threads too much. Don't you think so? I mean, why don't you just personally contact the one that started the thread, rather than locking ALL threads, excluding those started by a moderator or administrator...

Which threads/forum are you referring to? :) Threads are normally locked if they are in the wrong place or inappropriate/don't fulfill the rules.

If you'd like to know why your threads were locked, you can always PM the Moderator who locked them and ask!

I've always hated when mods (and higher staff) lock threads that don't need to be locked.

I think locking should be a last resort. The only threads that need to be locked are threads that need absolutely no responses. So rules, the thread approval updates that are found in moderated forums, informational threads like the thread about the chatroom, and other things like that.

If a thread is in the wrong place, move it to the right place. If there's already a thread about a topic, merge it with the existing thread. If a thread already fulfilled its purpose, you really don't need to lock it. If someone has another question about something relating to the topic, they should be able to use that thread already existing. Your efforts aren't as well noticed that way, but they're more appreciated.

If a thread gets out of hand, and the moderator's tried to bring it back into the topic at hand to no luck, and people are just getting carried away, then I think that's the only time a thread needs to be locked.

Unfortunately, all moderators do things differently. But this was how I always advised new moderators to handle threads when I was on staff.

The only threads i ever saw get locked are necros or threads that were in the wrong place and there was already a similar thread in the place where it was supposed to be.

I checked why your threads were locked, most of your threads were just duplicates of already existing threads, you even tried to repost a thread that got locked again.

    ^pretty much @ the former.

Echoing others, if you disagree with a thread lock, you can PM the moderator/staffer that locked it, and they are more than welcome to discuss the reason with you. A pro tip on making threads: be sure you use the search function (you can search threads within each section of the forum), just in case the thread topic you want to make may have already been made. If the thread topic hasn't had a post in more than 30 days (1 month), then you are more than welcome to make said topic. Hope this helps a lot.

Us staffers are more than welcome to help you out as well as explain in detail as to why your threads have been locked. Feel free to PM me if you still have any questions, I'd be more than happy to help out. \o/

If you're referring to your threads in Omega Ruby & alpha Sapphire you made recently, well, those weren't exactly good discussion material. This one just listed the entire Hoenn Pokedex without any sources or material to talk about, so that one got locked, and rightfully so. The second one was mostly about pretty shady speculation & rumors, and there was already a thread for the different Pikachu costumes. It's not that the mods lock every thread "just because it wasn't made by a mod", it's that your threads didn't meet the forum's rules or requirements.

    YES

It is quite the reality in other parts of the internet, but I'm afraid you're barking up the wrong tree. The only thing in this oak of relatable issue is maybe the abstinence of staff locking threads, like this one… maybe? I have no idea. Our lassiez-faire approach has really made this place nicer IMO.
