do i nickname my pokemon?

you bet i do. i name everything i catch, no matter what it is. and if i accidentally don't, i'll usually throw a fit and then go get them named anyway...

My current team (on emerald. my pearl one isn't really big enough, it's only 2 pokes... ehehe...)

Gardevoir - Lucy
Combusken - Blitz
Zigzagoon - Teh Zigzag
Poochyena - Black Fang
Lotad - Lily
Wurmple - Jeff

and yes, they're all under level 40. i only just restarted the game 2 days ago.

...though it would be fun to name a Blaziken "Squirtle"...

I heard that's not allowed in Pokemon battle tournaments. (But I've done those sort of nicknames before--I remember having an Alakazam nicknamed Mewtwo.)

and it sucks how if you get a pokemon with a different language, it's name changes to english when it evolves!!!

That happened to a Glameow I got from the GTS... I thought Charmian was a nickname, but no, the name became Purugly upon evolution.

I think Yellow was the only Pokemon where I didn't normally nickname my Pokemon. Ever since then, I've always nicknamed every single Pokemon.

Sometimes I sit there for fifteen minutes after catching a Pokemon, deciding on its nickname... I remember doing that with Anorith, finally deciding to call him "Scamper"...

What I most often do for nicknames is take a human name that seems to fit the Pokemon and name it that, or name a Pokemon after a fictional character. Some of my favourite human name examples are:

Bibarel: Beatrice ("beaver")
Drifblim: Wendy ("windy")
Roselia: Rosemary
Azumarill: Bob (his tail bobs up and down in the water)
Chimecho: Belle
Skitty: Tom-Tom (I dunno, two Toms sound better than one)
Skorupi: Claudia ("claw")
Carnivine: Maude ("maw")
Rapidash: Cinderella ("cinder")

Other nicknames I really like:

Lairon: Haganiwa (From the Japanese "hagani"--steel and "iwa"--rock)
Rampardos: Yoshi (You know, the cute little dinosaur from the Mario games)
Lucario: Zorro (happens to be Spanish for fox, and Lucario does seem to resemble a fox)
Mismagius: Maleficent
Grumpig: Miss Piggy
Staraptor: Silverling
Ditto: Wondergoo
Dustox: Pesto
Wobbuffet: Jessie
Chimecho: James

@Destiny100: Floatzel is most like an otter althought it does remind me if how Tails would look with a liferaft glued to his? back. XD

Every Single One!

Giving them those make me feel they are more unique... :D

here's three

Hurricane : Salamence
Jetstream : Garchomp
Clearsky : skarmory

Forgive my noobishness, but what does "PKMN" stand for?

Just kidding. I name all my Pokemon Juan-Pedro.

I usually nickname my pokemon from something I like or just a made up name.

Lucario-Sonic
Weavile-Shadow
Vaporeon-Bubbles
Arcanine-Bolt or Flames(i got lots)
Jolteon-Striker
Blaziken-Blazer or Blitz
Salamence-Daragon
Milotic-Sea queen or Kira
Flygon-Booster

All of them that I really use (HM slaves don't count). And I come up with some pretty crazy names. In Diamond, my in-game team all began with the letters "Lu", such as Lumi the Luxray, Lufa the Floatzel, and Lunatic the Lucario. As for some more...

Molly-Houndoom
Cruise-Rhydon (don't ask. random idea that came to mind)
Ameri-Espeon
Naru-Umbreon
Shiloh-Togekiss
Klondike-Manectric
Wally-Empoleon (soon to be my Special Wall! ... geddit?)
TrogDor-Caterpie :D <BURNINATING ALL TEH PEOPLE >:D
Soto-Quilava

the list goes on... and on... and on...

Well I use to nickname my pokemon, but then later on I would want to change it again, because it didn't sound good for my pokemon, so now I stop nicknaming my pokemon. (I voted no)

I don't usually give nicknames. D: I used to name a few when I first started playing, though.

My Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow was named "PIKACH" because I didn't know how to cancel when assigning a nickname. The character limit cut the "U" off. xD

I nickname all of my Pokemon. However, the Pokemon that I caught and automatically stored in the PC have kinda crappy nicknames, while the Pokemon I've trained for battles have more creative nicknames.

No, I think nicknaking you're pokemon is kinda tacky.

I actually nickname some of the legendaries though. :3

Regigigas: Lil' Giggy. XD

I themename my teams. My current team is all types of cake :3

Creamcake
Spongecake
Cupcake
Fruitcake
Cheesecake
Fishcake

BD

Nah...I really couldn't be bothered to nickname pokemon....the only pokemon I ever nicknamed was my charmander, it was Charzy xD
