[Talk] Do you prefer RPing in a familiar world or a newly created one?

When we're role-playing, which type of world do you prefer to roleplay in?
A familiar world such as Kanto, Sinnoh, Hoenn?
Or a custom created world, maybe it's a newly created island off the coast of Johto, or a full world designed by the GM?
I want to hear your preferences!

I generally prefer entirely original settings and concepts or at the very least alternate versions of existing settings. Even if I'm doing a Pokemon RP, I like to have the freedom to work outside the canon.

Once upon a time, I'd probably say both. These days, I've leaned far more towards custom created worlds instead of already established ones. I mean, I'll go for established worlds on occasion, but my preferences have shifted to original settings.
