Well do you? Ive oficially given up on this show. Ive been waiting for something to truly happen that will advance ash's pokemon master dream in vain. So far its just been 500+ episodes of him wandering around collecting badges, and for what? He never wins a championship. Its like a waste of time especially when he loses these battles against other trainers he could easily destroy with his other pokemon. Also, Dawn seems like she's being imposed on me as if im supposed to care abut her as much as ash like shes just as important. Team rocket got old, brock got old, the plot got old too. Its soooooo boring. They really should try ending the series soon and maybe try making a fresh new one with new characters that have more personality.

No not really. But if you care about Ash more.. why did you capitalize Dawn, and not Ash?

Ash is a symbol more than anything. He stands for doing what's right rather than what's easy, he stands for determination, he stands for dedication. The fact he doesn't win at everything gives him human qualities. You could argue, you would rather watch if he was a champ, but wouldn't that be boring after a while?

I love the old show before misty left. May I hated so much loll. But dawn is alright. Since they took it off WB I hardly get to see it. As you can tell I haven't been able to since WB closed pokemon out like a year ago.

I want to watch it. I have Foxtel, so I record all the eps and watch while mum is at work. *Humiliation lmao*. But ATM I'm starting with the box sets. I've nearly finished Season 1. And next week I'm buying Season 2 and 3 box sets. I can't beleive that I missed out on so much.

Regarding the OP's original point: What, so you're saying that Satoshi trespassing even further into Gary Stu-dom than he already has, winning against every trainer that comes his way and blitzing all the championships is going to make the show better?

I'm completely up to date with the latest Japanese episodes. I don't see why people say that the show has become boring. I was reintroduced to the anime at about this time last year - I believe the first episode I saw of Diamond and Pearl was DP060, first aired December 20th - and I was actually surprised about how different it was to the last episodes I remembered. The last I had seen was just over a half of the way through the Johto seasons. Specifically, I was shocked about how much better they were. Even the new dub episodes are vastly improved. The storylines, while often feeling recycled (DP073 and EP021, DP080 and EP177, for example), often have a fresh new perspective on the plot, and certainly feel like they surpass the old episodes. Take the most recent Japanese episode. DP103 - Chaotic Mêlée in Mio City! - was a humourous episode, and one which would have been seen as boring filler in the days of Johto or Hoenn. However, 103 was actually one of the highlights of the last thirty or forty episodes, despite the oft-repeated, slightly thin plot.

I don't understand how people can say that the new episodes are boring when compared to older ones. The original series holds fond memories for some, though I think these opinions are rather... clouded by nostalgia. Looking back, the episodes are actually rather poor, in my opinion. They got better as time went by, the artists and the writers improving, but it started to go downhill around halfway through Johto. This was around when I started watching, but I've seen Hoenn episodes since returning to the anime, and their only redeeming features was the improved art. But the new episodes are much improved, and this is obvious in the increasing profile of the Pokémon franchise, at least in the UK.

Every Satueday at nine in the morning, yes. I do (mostly because of how awesome Sinnoh is).

I just watch Pokemon whenever I can, lol most of the time i haven't seen the ones CN is playing.

I've never stopped watching the anime. Starting with AG I've switched the Japanese version and have watched it ever since. AG was handled OK in general, though I've cursed the writers the way Groudon vs Kyogre was done.

DP has some good improvements. They've introduced Pokemon Hunter J, a ruthless villian with zero comic relief, something I've been wanting to see a lot time. Next there is Team Galactic. It's not that the writers have only added "real" antagonist into the series, but the stories have been better. Most that stand out would be the Riolu two-parter and
    Spoiler:

Plus the writers pull back events that happend in earlier episodes.

Yes, the general storyline of the anime has become repetitive: Ash wants to become a Pokemon Master etc. The badge quest is going to be reset by introducing a new region. If Ash is going to become a Pokemon master/win a league than I suspect the Pokemon anime will come to an end.

Personally I actual don't consider that the general plot anymore. It's so vague and unreachable. Like I said in the "Sick of Ash?" thread. Only replacing characters isn't going to help much on the long run. "Character X is planning to become a Pokemon Master and is traveling the Y region". Replacing X with Ash/Kenta/Lucas and Y with Kanto/Orange/Shinnou/Orre will in the end still cause people saying "It repetitive", "They need to replace the characters", "It's boring".

Most people would agree that the Riolu two-parter was a great episode. Why?
It has a reachable goal: bringing Riolu back to his home.
It had someone that stopped Ash and co reach that goal: Pokemon Hunter J, two if you count J's client in.
Reaching the goal wasn't a breeze: Ash and co had to stand their ground to reach their goal.

Replacing characters should not be nessesary (but if needed, I wouldn't oppose fyi), the writer could come up with more serious arcs, less episodic stories.

Well, this section wouldn't be up if no one watched it. But hey, it's a great opportunity to tell my story of when I stopped watching for the millionth time.

I stopped watching around the middle of Johto. Episode after episode it was another boring filler, and it wasn't like most of these were funny, it was just some random person needs help with their Pokemon. As much as some people say it does, it definatly doesn't happen as much in DP. Well, I got so tired of Johto and it going nowhere I stopped watching, and I thought I wouldn't ever watch again.

A few years later in 2006, I had a YouTube account and my brother had found a video of Smosh singing the Pokemon theme. I remembered how much I used to love Pokemon so I had the "crazy" idea that there might be Pokemon episodes on YouTube ( XD ) So I watched the 1st episode and wanted to watch more so I ended up watching random AG episodes. I was amazed at how much more action the newer episodes had (first AG episodes I remmeber watching are the Weather Institution episode, a Harley episode and Claydol, Big and Tall) after I found out what contests were, I loved them and I remember liking May almost straight away. By the time I had watched the end of Advanced Battle, the 1st Battle Froniter episode was starting to show in the US, so I've been watching on YouTube every week ever since haha.

To make sure I hadn't got Johto wrong, I found Johto episodes and found I was struggling to stayed focused watching them. XD

I completly agree with everything you've said, and I've noticed Pokemon around much more here in the UK, too.

yup, well actually im watchin the series on teh internet and up to battle fronteir and movin through relatively fast

Yes, I watch every Saturday morning on Cartoon Network. And I'm gonna keep watching 'till it's over. :t329:

Originally I stopped watching early on in the Johto season.
I can't remember what episode it was, but the last episode that I had watched of that was the introduction to the PokeRap GS. I just lost interest.
I've seen a couple AG episodes here and there.. and I'm trying to get myself caught up. May doesn't bother me too much, so I'm sure I'll get through just fine.

Sadly I've quit due to the horrible voice acting on behalf of the new dubbing group.

Sadly, I have to agree to this.
I try watching the DP episodes, but I have a hard time getting into any of it, because I can't stand the new voice actors. They don't feel like they're the same characters anymore, and it just bugs me to death.

Yes. As much as I fly into a rage about the newer seasons, I still watch them.

The new VAs will forever be grating in my ears in their strained nature and in the way they've destroyed the former characterizations (what with the way the 4Kids VAs inhabited the characters rather than just voicing them, but that's another matter of discussion) and I don't feel the show has passion, vivacity, or persona of Pokémon or characters of any sort anymore but at the same time those things can depend upon justification above all (quite easily) and I do think the show deals out things - such as rivalries, animation, and select story elements - a lot better than it used to given that the writers were somewhat aimless in the show's inception.

Well, it's one thing getting too attached to former characterisations of characters, then being unable to adjust to the newer batch of voice actors. I myself can honestly say that I once thought that, but I quickly realise that I have to be able to adapt to keep up with the times, and that's exactly what I did. The new voices don't bother me anymore and I just continue watching the dub of the anime. Worrying about these kinds of things are useless as it's totally out of my control. Furthermore, I also watch the RAWs, which have better voice acting, in my opinion, but it's only natural to make these kinds of comparisons.

Additionally, to the OP... would you really want the anime to have no twists in plot whatsoever and just continue on in a straight line? That's what makes stories fun! This is why as of recent episodes, I find myself enjoying episodes more and more. The plot is there, but with the twists and turns it actually takes, it becomes much more exciting to watch. You never know what could happen around the corner, and therefore it isn't as predictable. Predictable plots wear out very quickly, because it'd be pointless to watch if we know what to anticipate beforehand, and it'd without a doubt kill the need to watch the anime at all. Then we have those episodes with plenty of comedy. Those are ones which don't really need a plot to pull off, because the random nonsense that can appear at any point has the surprise factor and the randomness of these events sometimes makes people laugh. Of course, these episodes still have a plot, but much of the action lies in those unexpected events throughout the episode.

Ash blitzing past every opponent is way too boring for me, and that's also because in real life, no-one is ever able to actually defeat every opponent they come actross, even if they have unbeaten streaks. Winning all the time would just lead to a one-way traffic and therefore no plot is needed. Just imagine... the Pokémon anime without plot, just Ash beating opponents every single episode and never losing at all. Yeah, that sure would make a great show to watch. >_>

We stopped getting WB around Johto, right before Misty left. Without knowing what happened, when CN finally got it, I didn't watch it, I'd lost interest in the show (I did not like May, and the one I watched with Dawn I did not like either--and the plots seemed bland in comparison). I still loved the games though, so I've never stopped being a fan of Pokemon altogether.

This September I went on YouTube and I decided I would finally see the ep where Misty left. I did an was greatly disappointed in it, but that vid led to shipping vids which reminded me of Team Rocket mostly, and I started seeing the eps online whose clips from the YT vids I liked. Then I started watching them on CN, the old and the new episodes.

Now I'm mad that they changed it to 8 am each morning instead of 1-2 because I can't do that anymore. But I started watching the new ones again on Saturdays. I'm glad I'm back! :-)
