I'm back from a looooooooooooooooong hiatus, and with a vengeance!! muahahahahaha!!!
    Anywho...
What I'm really asking is whether you guys believe if B2/W2 were supposed to be the first generation-5 pokémon games, and something along the lines of gray/grey was scheduled to release after the first pair.

Iff is not a thread of discussion lemme know mods, and sorry for the inconvenience!!
    'K, cheerio!

What do you mean? Like that the plot of BW2 was actually supposed to be the plot of BW? I wouldn't think so, since the plots of BW2 build on the established plot of BW. I do suspect that BW2 was originally going to be Gray, but for whatever reason they decided to make sequels instead.

No, not the plot. But just look at the amount of pokes from previous gens found in Unova, even in B/W after League. I understand GAMEFREAK wanting to reboot the franchise and only using gen-5 pokes, but I get the feeling that Black 2 and White 2 were meant to be the first generation-5 games.

Lol. This question makes no sense.

Anyway, b2 and w2 were made instead of just a gray version so that they could make more money. Many true pokemon fans buy both versions every generation, and making two versions instead of one is relatively simple.

Not in the slightest. One thing that most people misunderstand about Pokemon Black and White was that they were intentionally made to be disconnected from all the other Pokemon games prior to them (until you actually beat the games). The idea was that, to do a proper reboot of the series, Game Freak had to make some sort of cutoff so that nobody could use Pokemon unavailable in Black or White version before they actually beat the games. However, it was ill timed and got a lot of negative hype. In Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, they brought back a bunch of Pokemon so people would shut up about not having a good enough variety to choose from, even though by that time most people had traded in Pokemon available in the DP era games into Black and White via Poke Transfer.

B2W2 were originally meant to be two gray versions, but Iwata himself nipped that in the bud. Something along the lines of the fact that they being on the DS is already a sales negative, and making the same games would further that iirc.

I see BW2 as some sort of an attempt to improve over BW with a sequel. I don't know why Route 1 wouldn't be the first Route that one explores in BW2 if it was indeed intended to be the "original" version.

Nope. Not to me, anyway. Black and White were indeed supposed to be a reboot for the series, again, in my opinion. The generation that has been loyal to it since the beginning is now starting to get away from playing it as much. So, they wanted the younger, newer generation of Pokemon Trainers to have a "First Gen" for themselves. People give the Fifth Gen a lot of crap for starting off with 151 Pokemon, but quickly forget that that is exactly what we started off with all those years ago, and back then they had even crappier sprites!

I don't think B2W2 were meant to "improve on mistakes and failures" from Black and White. Just like Red , Green, Blue, and Yellow had sequels in Gold and Silver, we got them in Black 2 and White 2. (Fyi Yellow is not a "third" game, it's a completely different game that's highly based on the actual anime, and Crystal was essentially the first "third" game we ever got) All of that only helps the theory that they really were somewhat rebooting the Pokemon franchise with this. They even went so far as to keep the mascot of the franchise out of the Black and White games entirely.

So, no, I don't think that there was supposed to be a "Gray" version, nor do I think there ever should be one, and I am extremely grateful that they never attempted one.
