Directed at Charmageddon. I loved Hoenn, and I was still young at the time of its release. I have many fond memories of the game- mixing data with friends to invade their bases, the Regi's side quest (which was immense), the many water routes (which I actually liked, surprise surprise), the new Pokemon etc etc. No offense or anything, but you don't speak for everyone. I know many who loved R/S/E. Okay, it's not as good as Gen 1/2. Who cares? My memories of Pokemon Sapphire make me nostalgic as hell.

Sinnoh on the other hand....*shudders*.

On topic, I think there will be remakes, but something tells me it wont be as good as the originals.

Yup. Different people have different opinions and I respect them. But 4th gen wasn't bad too. (Seems like I love every region!XD). And your liking to the water routes is really a surprise.XD

On topic: I too think that there will be remakes in 2-4 years but they WILL be better than the originals. The things that were lacking in R/S/E were probably because of the reason that nintendo had tried making a pokemon game on gba for the first time. And if nintendo plans to remake them, they will probably be launched after the games of the same generation have been launched. So they won't be new to making a game for the new console because they would have already gained experience on making a game for the console thanks to the games(games of that gen) that have already been launched. HG/SS is also looking EPIC for the same reason(D/P/Pt were made before them). If you understand what I mean.

Once everyone owns DSis and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald isn't compatible they will. That's not for a while though, like three years into the future.

It may be, especially if it's not compatible with Generation Five. And, of course, it lets Nintendo release a popular game without having to put as much effort as with a totally new series. :P It'll be interesting to see what the remake will be like, if there is one. ;o

HeartGold and SoulSilver are going to rake in so much dough, we will never see the light of Savory Sapphire or Radical Ruby. That's what I think, and that's coming from someone who very much enjoyed Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.

It really does depend on the next-gen handheld hardware an its limitations.

If it does allow for migration of data from DS carts to games on the next-gen handheld, then probably not due to the fact that they seem to have gone out of their way to include every GenIII legendary in HeartGold, SoulSilver, and Platinum, making a remake of the Hoenn games seem unnecessary. :D

But, if the next-gen Handheld isn't backwards compatible to any degree (a first for a Nintendo Handheld), expect to see ShimmeringSapphire and RadiantRuby in stores in the Spring of 2013. :P

Possibly, but I'm not sure about remakes on the 5th Generation. But that'd be nice if it were to continue to the 6th Generation.

But Nintendo is trying to survive in this bad economy, and need money.

I hope so, but I don't know. Most people HATED hoenn :'(

Nintendo will most likely not use the Nintendo DS for long. They'll have to make Pokemon MagmaRuby and AquaSapphire because RSEFRLGDPPlHGSS are the only Generations that will combine together.

MagmaRuby and AquaSapphire will be boring for a remake, but what can be better than SkyEmerald with the Groudon and Kyogre catclysm in pure 3D?

Think about it. Emerald had the most epic vedios in GBA. Now in 3D? That'll be a catastrophe in graphics.

And I'll start breaking things into a long confusing stretch of words. RS remakes could happen this gen. The DSi while being basically the GBC to as it was to the GB won't last long. Maybe a year or 2. If so that would mean a new handheld would be out in 2011 2012. That right there would result automatically in Gen5 coming out in 2013 and no less. If so then in 2011 something has to come out. That something would logically be RS the only games not available on the DS. If no handheld then well there is the chance of next gen RS remakes. I mean that is of course on if a new Pokemon is shown first in the 13th movie or 14th movie. If in Movie 13 then its unlikely with a slight tint of possibility and if shown in the 14th movie well then the chances are very likely and I mean to the point were its almost inevitable. So the only way it wouldn't happen is if 2012 brings a new gen game duo and movie 13 shows a new Pokemon.
Adding on to this I would like to say its also about the Money. Movie 13 will obviously be for HGSS advertising and hopefully not full on HGSS advertising. I say this because full on HGSS advertising would more or less cause the 5th gen reveal to happen in movie 14 as say movie 13 because of the 5th gen stealing HGSS movie spotlight. I know it sounds bad but its the most likely scenario. If this does happen and come 2011 with the first 5th gen Pokemon being properly shown in a movie that would mean a definite push of the games to 2013 the earliest. with that Gamefreak would need a cashflow. This cashflow cannot be resolved alone by HGSS after 2 years of its release and with this RS remakes would be needed to bridge the 4 year gap. And no don't start telling me about spin offs or the next console game(s?) because those have no direct ties to Gamefreak and no cash flow would come in from it. So yeah basically its all down to movie 13.

Carried this over from the locked thread so yeah.

Hah. There isn't very much that can be improved in RSE, even out of a 5th-gen system. The graphics were fine. The gameplay was streamlined and quick (there weren't delays between pressing the start button and your menu coming up like in GSC). There were plenty of legendaries to be caught, so any remake would have as many legendaries as there were normal pokemon in Generation 1. It's going to be sad seeing a game run at 60 FPS while it's remake runs at 30.

Thinking it over, RSDS should be in full speculation mode. I know what the hell but Masuda stated clearly that a 2 year gap is the maximum amount of years between games. With that I truly believe RSDS will happen sometime next year or the year after as well lets face it. Gen 5 won't be in game form till at least 2012 2013.

I don't think it will happen, there is no need for R/S/E remakes. I want to see a Pokemon Pinball remake.

As I said Masuda stated a 2 year gap is the maximum year gap. 2012 for gen 5 in game form is the most likely outcome now with or without a 5th gen Pokemon in movie 13. Its just too close to believe the games will be in 2011 with substantial proof that gen 5 work only started to get a full force a few months back. What I mean is Gamfreak has been going to the zoo drawing a lot and only now has started advertising in full force job openings. So in all likeliness Gen 5 is going to come but after one last Gen4 game duo.

Question - I haven't really been actively anticipating the release of a brand new generation ever before, I only joined the pokemon fnadom about a year ago. If the Gen V games are released in 2012, when can we expect to see the first snippets of information? The first new pokemon revealed? The titles? Etc?

Well that's if the come out in 2012.(which I'm fairly certain they will)
Now then. The first Pokemon most likely will be in this movie(I changed my mind it makes sense a bit) then it will shove its face into the Anime with Dawn most likely catching it and then from then on a bunch of Pokemon(like 4 or 5) get revealed until 2011/2012 when the games are going to be slowly revealed.

On an additional note, the third games simply weren't that popular, and so may not be deserving of a remake. I know, they sold well, and have some fans, but they're generally regarded to be the worst of the generations. RBGY were the originals, they had to be remade. And GSC are generally considered the best generation so far. Do that many people really want to play through Hoenn again? Everyone remembers Lance's Dragonite and trying to beat Whitney's Miltank, but come on, who here has fond memories of say, Flannery's Torkoal? Or Tate and Liza's Solrock? The 3rd generation gets no points for nostalgia.

Are you KIDDING me?! Hoenn was the BEST! The third generation is the best generation of Pokemon EVER! 4th was good, 5th I actually haven't played yet, but I've heard good things, 1st and 2nd had crappy graphics, a lot of glitches, etc.

Hoenn, lets see: best region ever, best story ever, best Pokemon ever, awesomest battle frontier ever. Yeah, I think it's going to be remade.

What I want to see is the Battle Frontier in Emerald in the remakes. We need to bring it back. The frontier in Platinum and HGSS were horrendous! There was no adventure, it was just battle, battle, battle. In hoenn, we walked around in the facilities, were able to find items, were able to encounter wild pokemon, and other stuff. I want to see facilities like the Battle Pyramid, Battle Pike, the Emerald Style Battle tower, and the Battle Dome. You say that this gen gets no points for nostalgia. So, what you are saying is that this awesome Battle Frontier is not a good source of nostalgia.

There was also Team Magma, Team Aqua, Rayquaza, Groudon, Kyogre, the REGIS, and the Abandoned Ship.

I want to see an extension on the Abandoned Ship. I want to see it extended into a bigger sidequest. Maybe, you would find the guy who fixed it was a former gym leader and you could battle him. I don't know, the whole Abandoned Ship thing seemed too short.

So that's my opinion on the RSE Remakes.
