Does Dubbing makes the Anime less-entertaining?

As the title says, Does Dubbing makes the Anime less-entertaining?
Well because last night, I watched the Anime "Tsubasa Chronicles, Season 2"
and look at there voices are like:
Faye: Has a voice like a Fat-Low Voiced Person
Yuko[or whatever the name of the dimension witch is]: sounds like a Russian
Kurogane: don't get me started on this
Anyways I'm not complaining about the Tsubasa Chronicles but...
I saw an anime with Dubbing Problems [Voices that doesn't match the character and has no feelings AT ALL] Stratos 4, Hungry Heart [In English ofcourse]
And the storyline is great but what really makes me don't wanna watch those anime because of the Dubbing Problems...
So again, Does Dubbing makes an anime less-entertaining?

I guess that's based on the viewer's opinion on how well they think the dub was done :/ There are some dubs that are close enough to the original and very rarely even better the original,and than there are obviously dubs that suck :P

I guess if all the gore and stuff that was in the original was editted out in the dub,of course it's gunna be less entertaining [[well,for some like myself] D8 But voice wise..well,I really wouldn't mind,but if the voices are like off-tone,than I guess it's a problem for some,but for me it'd just be flat out funny xDD [Take Ranma 1/2's English dub for example..rofl.I actually prefered Spanish dub over both Japanese and English~xD]

I really have heard dome good dubs, like Misuzu from Air TV. Her American voice actress does it brilliantly. On the other hand, Rika from Higurashi no Naku koro ni... She's supposed to sound cute. Her American voice actress makes me cry. ;__;

I certainly perfer Japanese with english subs, especially in Naruto. Because in Naruto, the english version is way too kiddish for me, wheras the Japanese version is completely different. And I hate his saying: "Believe It!" Dear god I wanna snap his little ninja neck whenever he says that. Where'd they get it from anyway? Dattebayo doesn't mean Believe It translated, if fact Dattebayo is just a kiddish phrase that Naruto adds to his sentences.

Although there is one exception, i thoroughly enjoyed full metal alchemist with the english dubbing. But more often than never they use the same voice actors over and over and it starts to feel more like a crappy kids cartoon than an anime

Great, not this "argument" again. They erased "Believe it" from Naruto's lexicon long ago, and yet you are still not satisfied. If you still have a problem with it, go take it up with Viz Media itself; we're all sick and tired of hearing Narutards whining about how their show was "butchered" by translating it into English.

You can't stand your own language when it's spoken? Typical weeaboo behaviour right here, kiddies.

The Japanese also recycle their voice actors. For instance, try explaining how Takehito Koyasu and Megumi Hayashibara have 318 and 236 credits to their respective names. Does that make anime in the original Japanese "like a crappy kids cartoon"? I think not.

The only anime i have managed to watch dubbed is Naruto but i way prefer the Japanese voices.

No but the way that the english voice actors play the characters in most cases are rubbish , i'm not trying to diss english dubs of anime (although it seems like it) im just saying that the japanese are much better at conveying the emotions ect of their characters than the english voice actors. You watch an episode of naruto and then one in japanese and there is quite frankly no competition.

Edit: I dont care if you call me a narutard :) . Plus when you watch the english dub it isn't uncut because those in charge find some things 'unsuitable'

One Piece, Card Captor Sakura, and Sailor Moon are the quintessential examples of how to screw up the English adaptation of an anime, in regards to both voice acting and sheer content alteration and removal. Naruto doesn't come anywhere close to those atrocities.

You want a truly good English dub? Stop watching Naruto and start watching Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Trigun, FLCL, or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Yeah you have a point i do wish naruto was dubbed better because its one of those animes i really enjoy watching. plus its the only anime that i cant get on english/japanes dvd.

I think Akira was dubbed quite well, that was dubbed pretty well.

lol Naruto. Not that I like Naruto, but the dub voices are better suited in my opinion - they at least make them sound like they're actually 13, which makes a lot more sense to me than having them sound like they're 20 or something ^^

And awwh, they got rid of 'Believe it!'? That was a good method for real life trolling XD

Oh well, Naruto has it good compared to the other dubs Jack mentioned.

But yeah, as numerous people have mentioned already, it depends - there's no general quality of the dub that covers all of them.

I must say though, after experiencing One Piece dubbed *shudders*, I must say that I'm wary of all dubs now :/

I dunno, really.

I prefer most of the original versions of animes and watch the subbed version (i.e: Naruto, Cardcaptor Sakura, etc.) but I do like some of the dubbed version of animes then the original, such as YuYu Hakusho and Beyblade. (Cuz I keep laughing when I hear the Japanese voices of the Bladebreakers. :x )

So I'm kind of... "Meh" on the question.

I like the mistakes and how awful some of our favorite characters turn ends up with crappy english voices. Aside that their are the origal japanese voice in some anime that are horrible as well yes you Inuyasha and Goku. To add upon Jack's list dubbed Inuyasha, DragonBall/Z/GT, and I guess Blood+(never watched the jap version), and Bleach dubbed and Jap are equally good to me that is.

Exactly. When people complain about dubs, 99% of the time they complain about the dubs on children's anime done by bad studios. They don't take the time to watch good dubs with good actors.

Yeah, hate to be the one to break it to you, but Naruto was aimed at children in Japan and it actually isn't as butchered as most people think it is and you can't tell me that you would honestly think "Believe it!" would be any less annoying than "dattebayo!"

Kay, here's one of the times when not knowing the language really degrades your ability to put up a competant argument. Since you don't know the language and since seiyuu, y'know, being the actors that they are, can change the tone of their voice, you don't notice just how often Japanese seiyuu are actually reused, not that I mind though, the more Kenichi Suzumura the better, but your argument is essentially stating things that happen on both sides of the world.

I'd strongly disagree here. Johnny Yong Bosch, Vic Mignogna, Quinton Flynn, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Crispin Freeman, they're all great actor. They're all capable of reaching great emotional range and in some cases would surpass their Japanese counterparts.

I'm aware that there are good dubs out there though, and I will watch them. It's just that I'm aware now that some are really shocking, so I'd rather take my chances with subs. I suppose my main issue is with dub houses and what they do to the series, rather than the actually dubbing. But eh, it's a trivial issue for me either way.

I'm happy enough that 4Kids ain't dubbing anymore ^^

EDIT: Actually, to me it's like watching a book of a movie. You can't help but look for all the failing points, though I do try to look for the good points too.

Anyways, yeah, the Naruto crap is overdone now. Nobody cares anymore who isn't a Narutard, and it's annoying as sin for people who aren't.

As mentioned before, whether a dub is "good" or not depends on the viewers own preferences. Sorry to say to all you Narutards, but the Naruto dub does well. =/

Hmm. It seems to be aimed at kids more so in America than it is in Japan nowadays, if you take time to notice the increased violence and profanity. And, yes, I do think Dattebayo is much less annoying the Believe It. I like the sound of "Dattebayo" and it sounds much better than believe it. It blends into the subs.

Luckily I have a severe case of Narutardisim so I can complain about the dub all I want. I just hate the english voice overs. And I hate Kiba's voice in both the dub and the sub.
