It doesn't really bother me. :/ I just get the version with the Pokemon I like and play it. I was never a "catch-'em'all" person anyway.
 
It is the whole point to be honest! XD

But however I do find it annoying when I don't know anyone else who plays Pokemon to trade with...on the rare occassion that they do they have the same version as me!! Aaaaaaaaaagh! Now that's annoying!
 
It has never really been much of pest. Now that it is brought up, I could see how it annoys people, but it is business. They did it so you buy more Poke'mon games, and so it is more of a challenge and keeps you coming back for later versions.
 
It does since it's clearly a marketing gimmick to make people buy the other version in the same generation (assuming for the purpose of my statement that the extension versions i.e. Yellow don't exist — they're a different gimmick).
It'd be nice just to have one version per generation, but perhaps that's just me being lonely me — I've never really had anyone to trade with.
