1. Pokemon is a game first and foremost. Not a kids' show.
2. Birds eat insects, nothing wrong with that.
3. It says nowhere in the world of Pokemon that real life animals don't exist.
4. It was the young video game industry. Nobody questions why Mario eats Mushrooms to get big.
Just my take.
