Tales of Symphonia: DoTNW is the "official" sequel to Tales of Symphonia. Thus, the Colette there is technically the canon!Colette, whom just went through the events of the sequel as well, not an alternate (though people have said ToS: DOTNW is like an AU, because of the ending [ToP can't happen with that ending]) that Colette is from. That goes the same for Regal as well - we went through he events of both ToS and ToS: DoTNW, and thus the canon!Regal.

Unless, of course, the mun has put somewhere than Colette is AU/has a different storyline than the canon storyline.

It does in Roleplays, PIXY. Some roleplays you can bring in alternate universes of characters (like you can bring in a Game!Version of Red, and then like... a Manga!version of Red). Because of such, you have to know what version they are from and whether or not the roleplay consider some things as part of a version or not. In this case, I'm sure thay consider "ToS: DOTWN" to be part of the Game versions/canon versions of 'em.

For most some people, Tales of Symphonia ends after the original game. I'm one of those people who consider Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World to be a Alternate ending to Tales of Symphonia, that doesn't eventually lead to Tales of Phantasia.

Well yes, that is what 'canon' is, I know. I should have found a different word for my explination but whatever. Point is that the Colette of ToS: DOTNW went through the events of ToS as well, and is thus the.. 'official' Colette. Not any sort of 'AU' Colette, or 'DOTNW!Colette'.
