I have read Dracula, finishing it last month after it took me a while to get through it. It was difficult to get through, and the ending disappointed me by how flat and short it was.
As for the movies, I can't answer, since I have never seen any of the movie versions. The first movie from 1931 made Dracula, the character Dracula especially, a well-known idea. In fact, when I read the original book, it said that people came to the book expecting it to be like the movie, even though the movie took liberties with the plot.
But like I said, I can't form an opinion of the movies aside from the little bit I know of the 1931 version, since I've never seen a Dracula movie. A quick Google search shows that Dracula has been made into a movie, or is the basis of a movie, many times over. So what ever could be changed probably has already been done in some movie out there.
If the movie actually followed the plot of the book, that would make me happy, and I might actually have an interest in watching any of the versions out there.
Though maybe people can finally learn what a real vampire is if the movie's remade today.
Because Twilight means never having to say you're sorry.
