DS Lite or PSP Slim&Lite?

    I own both a DS (Albeit an older one) and a PSP Slim&Lite.

    I find both have pros and cons.

    PSP sl
    Pros:

    Amazing media features
    Great quality UMD films
    Lovely wide screen
    33% lighter than the PSP
    brilliant lighting
    A lot of good games recently
    Can do absolutely loads with custom firmware
    Great graphics

    cons:

    Only about 6-8 hours battery life
    Easier to break than a DS
    Still has a few problems with loading times.

    DS l

    Pros:

    Compact
    Bright screen
    virtually no loading time
    lots of nifty features
    Some great exclusives
    durable
    good battery life

    Cons:
    A lot of really bad games released recently
    Internet expansion is slow and rubbish
    the need for friends codes
    games seem to focus more on gimmicks than actual gameplay
    graphics are a bit 'last gen'
    Not much more on it other than the gaming aspect.


    Those are just my opinions. What are yours regarding the two? And do you think that the respective updates are really worth the extra money?
     
    well from what u put it seems u like the psp better.

    They're both good in their own way, I play my PSP more, but that's because it has games that I can get into more. The DS isn;t a bad console, I like it as well.
     
    yah same here. i own ds to. it is great i love it a lot. im not saying i dislike it.
    But i just like the psp better.
     
    In all honesty, the DS is easily better for the younger gamers, or even the very casual or much older gamer. But for a lot of 14-24 year olds, FPS fans, or serious gamers, I can't see anything on the DS that's all that appealing. Whereas the PSP has a lot going on there.

    well yah i love gaming and for me the PSP is more apealing
     
    Nah, what I mean is, DS has a lot of games that appeal to ages around 12, the PSP has a good few too. But really, DS is more ideal for the younger gamer.
     
    I have a normal psp with custom firmware and a DS lite. I prefer my DS lite. I think the games and features are better. My girlfriend has the internet expansion on the DS and it works fine. It isn't slow.

    I am using my psp to post this now.

    And I think the DS is easier to break. I have had my PSP for 2 years and it is fine. Got my DS last christmas and it has broken already. Both of them have been through the same type of things.
     
    man i could never type that long on psp.

    PSP Slim and lite breaks easier, it doesn't have the shock buffer in that the older model did.

    DS internet is slow, even slower than PSP, and it costs the same as an actual game, rip off much?
     
    Well sweeties, I prefer my DS lite since they're more games that I can actually get into, and are quite fun. The PSP however doesn't have a game library that catches my attention. Also the fact I see a loading screen on a handheld console kinda bothers me. XD
     
    If the games were 2D and shorter like a lot of DS games, PSP wouldn't have that problem. But no matter, loading times do annoy me. Although the PSPslim&lite loads a lot faster than the older PSP, which I am very happy about.

    Star Wars Battlefront 2 is STILL the slowest loading game ever, it takes about a minute maybe more to load up a map on the Slim&Lite, so I dread to think how it used to load.
     
    I got both handheld systems and I use both a lot.

    I always play games on my DS Lite. I tend to use my PSP for playing music more than games. But I always keep on getting more PSP games.
     
    I find I use my PSP to play music and videos a lot too, I have probably 10 odd games and have played maybe 4. Hahaha.
    If the DS was a decent media center too, I'd probably do the same there as well.
     
    IMO the PSP is just a portable extension of the PS3. If you want something for games, pick the DS.
     
    Why do you say that Waka? The PSP has some amazing games. The other features are just nifty add ons that the DS couldn't possibly handle on it's firmware.
     
    I like both of them but considering I don't have a PSP I would have to go with the DS. Plus I heard that Nintendo is thinking of releasing a DS that is slimmer and has a built-in storage memory, the sad part is that the GBA slot might be taken out of it so we'll have to see if they do release a DS like that.
     
    What would be the point in ruining the DS in such a way? i think that the Lite is fine how it is, anything further will spoil what makes it good.

    But that's something else good about PSP, you can update it whenever you want (Providing there's new upgrades available) for free, or if you want to downgrade (God knows why) you can. So theoretically, the PSP need never change again from the Slim&Lite
     
    Well, I have both, and I find that I am picking up my DS more than my PSP. It just doesn't have the RPG library I yearn for in a handheld (namely Dragon Quest). And I don't really use by PSP for media, that is what I have my Zen for.
     
    The PSP Slim isn't necessarily something worth upgrading for the appearance of the thing, but the decreased weight could tempt some people. While the PSP Slim enjoys its latest achievement in selling 2 million units only by its first two months, the DS Lite remains as a consistent top seller since 2005.

    Again, Sony's managed to attract a much better lineup of games for the system, and this is probably the reason why I'd prefer the PSP over the DS. Sure enough the PSP succeeds in playing PSP games, however, Nintendo considered taking a lesson from Sony's PS2 and made their portable compatible with GBA titles. Is it really a huge deal? Probably not, but one thing is for certain, backwards compatibility is never a downfall in a console's sales, especially when it supports such a wide library. Besides that, what a lot of consumers fail to realize is the fact that both Sony and Nintendo have different approaches in the gaming industry. Sony attempts to enhance the gaming experience with astonishing graphics. While Nintendo tries to provide consumers with a whole new experience of playing games with creations such as the dual-screened DS and Wii.
