Almost every new computer you'll buy nowadays will come with a DVD burner drive. Some will even support higher formats like HD-DVD (which lost in the format war), Blu-Ray, and a few other formats in development like HVD.

Anyway, is it just me, or is it extremely hard to find software that can burn DVD's really well? I've used Nero, Roxio, and PowerISO and had problems with all three. I often get stupid errors in the middle of the burning process like a buffer underrun or having trouble writing lead-in and lead-out.

I finally gave up and settled for using Nero 7.

Is it so hard to find a good DVD burning program that works when you want it to? If anybody knows any good ones, I'd love to hear about them.

try burning at a slower speed that usually provides the best burn possible. I've use Roxio and nero and both have worked fine at 2x and 4x burn speeds.

I recommend Nero myself, just because it works well. If you want a slightly cheaper alternative that is almost exactly Nero, Try the Ashampoo burning suite.

I personally like using Sonic's burning suite as it gives me the best and easiest results (other than iDVD) and I actually use it a lot. It work's with every format including Tivo and last I recall .flv so I think it might be worth a shot.

    Has anybody tried Alcohol 120%?

Also, I burn on Nero at 4x (why is 8x the maximum when my drive can record beyond 32x?) and it still has problems.

Well 32x might be the CD Maximum and the DVD speed is normally quarter that of the CD and that might be the highest speed your discs can be burned.

I have used Alcohol120% just to burn DVDs and games that had write protections on them.

If you you do not use Alcohol 120% for that purpose, I suggest getting Xilisoft DVD creator Nero DVD suit.

Alcohol 120% can be quite confusing.
