    Quizathlon!


    This year Quizarama becomes Quizathlon. There will be a different event each day for teams to contest - 14 epic battles in all - spanning a range of subjects covered by E&M:
    Film, TV, Anime, Music, Manga, Books, Sport etc.


    The rules are simple:

    ★ Every day I will post a new event in the second post of this thread. I will also bump the thread with a link to it.

    ★ Teams should confer and discuss the questions and possible answers before submitting.

    ★ It is supposed to be a fun way to bond with your teammates, so NO SEARCHING OR LOOKING UP the answers please.

    ★ Teams will get points for every correct answer, plus bonus points for various achievements along the way:

    ● Best Day Ever - FIRST team to score 100% in a round
    - 10 Points - Unclaimed

    ● Chain Reaction - FIRST team to score 90%+ for 5 rounds in a row
    - 15 Points - Unclaimed

    ● Glass half full - Earn 7 gold medals (event wins) - doesn't need to be consecutive
    - 20 Points     - Clamed once by Team Aqua

    ● 80's vibes - Average 80%+ correct answers for the entire event
    - 25 Points - Unclaimed

    ● Medal collector - Highest total of gold medals (event wins) over the 14 rounds
    - 30 Points     - Clamed by Team Aqua


    ★ You will find the closing time in the daily post. Once your team has agreed on as many answers as possible for that day's event, one member of the team should submit them to me before the deadline either:

    On the forum via private message
    Or on Discord at unitedbymusic

    ★ I will accept each team's first set of answers only.

    ★ The most important rule of all: HAVE FUN!

    There are 15 Manga titles below, presented in the form of pictures. All your team has to do is correctly ID them from the clues.

    And so the epic struggle begins!

    Team Aqua have claimed the first gold medal with a near faultless round 1. Team Magma were not far behind, and I must say I underestimated both teams as usual... I might have to get tougher to keep you all in check ;)

    A three-peat for Team Aqua in E&M!!! For the 3rd straight day they have taken the gold, while Team Magma struggled a little more with the sports questions.

    And just like that... there's a bit of a gap. Two big wins in a row have put Team Aqua 21 points in front after 4 events, but today is a brand new day, and things could quickly close up again.

    Note to self: Aqua knows too much about anime, I simply must try harder the next time.

    Team Aqua does it again! 5 E&M gold medals in a row... talk about being in the zone!

    After 5 rounds, no team has quite managed to claim an achievement so far, who will be the first?

    Team Aqua once again took home the gold in Quizathlon with a near perfect score. They were oh so close, but just missed it. An invisible man might haunt them tonight after costing them the "Best Day Ever" achievement. With another silver, Team Magma now have some serious catching up to do, but there is a LOT of points still to play for, including all the achievements.

    Speaking of achievements, after seven events a team has finally claimed one! Congratulations to Team Aqua for unlocking "Glass half full" for an extra 20 points!

    Even going cryptic can't stop Team Aqua from claiming the gold, that's 8 in a row now! Magma now no longer have enough events left to claim one of the achievements - "Glass half full" - but they need to win at least one gold before the end of the competition to stop Aqua claiming it a second time... game on!

    First up, I must apologise for being a couple of hours late today. I had a heck of a day and let's be honest it was going to happen sometime😅


    Despite a much improved showing, Team Magma couldn't stop Aqua from extending their 100% gold medal streak yesterday. I gave both teams the point for South Park btw due to the Chinpokomon character even though it wasn't what I was actually looking for.

    We had our first ever what happened next round in E&M yesterday, and I really enjoyed seeing some of the answers!

    Both teams got the exact same two questions correct, while I asked my partner to independently score the objective answers to eliminate any bias.

    Team Aqua ended up with 6 points in total out of 12. Team Magma ended up on 7 out of 12 and take their first gold medal of the competition!

    Both teams struggled a bit yesterday but, in the end, Team Aqua just eked out the victory to reclaim their familiar place on the top step.

    There aren't enough rounds left for either team to claim another "Glass half full" achievement, so that's now off the table. Speaking of achievements, "Best Day Ever" still hasn't been claimed yet... just sayin' ;)

    Today we have another old favourite: Name That Tune. I'm in a bit of a funky mood so let's see how well you know your iconic baselines! You can find today's event in the 2nd post down HERE
     
    Team Aqua correctly identified 13/16 basslines which is an absolutely incredible achievement in my eyes but... Team Magma posted their highest score of the competition... to TIE for the gold medal! Congratulations to you both!!!

    Each team actually got the same 13 answers correct, and the same 3 incorrect. Reading the submissions up to song 9 I honestly thought we were going to have two teams claiming "Best Day Ever" at the same time. Alas, tomorrow is now the only chance for a 100% round this year.

    After an epic battle lasting 14 days, Team Aqua showed absolutely no signs of fatigue as they won yet another E&M gold medal in the final round!

    Aqua's 13!!! gold medals in total also allowed them to claim the "Medal Collector" achievement to add some bonus points to their total score. Neither team quite managed to claim "Best Day Ever", "Chain Reaction" or "80's vibes" unfortunately. Aqua did almost claim a second "Glass half full" but were denied by a very determined Magma in the What Happens Next round.

    Team Aqua might have been pretty much unstoppable in E&M this year, but that didn't stop Team Magma from giving it their all every single day. Both teams worked incredibly hard and I would like to thank you for your efforts and dedication to each event. Hopefully you all managed to have some fun along the way!

    Congratulations on your victory Team Aqua and once again thank you to both teams for a truly epic competition ❤️
