Earth Hour?

I'm doing it now. :3 Since your thread only just reminded me midway through. XD;; SO WHAT, STILL AN EARTH HALF AN HOUR.

... Hoping turning the lights off doesn't include the computer. XD;

Nah, but it's the morning here, so all the lights are turned off anyway.
lol.

Anyway, I don't think not doing it means you support global warming.
Just to make you feel better.

Me and my family do it for about 8 hours a day from about 10pm to 6am. It's called night time. xD

Tonight at 8 i will do it. Also yes Nelly. Good ideas are hard to come by. You are an example by putting that lightbulb above your head that bad ideas are easy to find.

Yup! 8:30-9:30 tonight!

I lear ned about it from a TFK magazine.......XD!

I have never participated in it. XD

I heard about it when Atlanta had its Earth Hour though. :\

I will do this tonight if I can convince the rest of my family to do it. I doubt I will convince my sister but my mum and me I am sure will do it.

No. It is stupid, end of.

Turning off lights for one hour provides nothing but an inconvenience for power plants, as they then have to adjust their power output suddenly and by relatively large amounts. The energy it takes to shut off (and later reopen) two turbines in a hydroelectric dam probably offsets the power saved by turning off lights.

Right on, Proof! This is also what I do. :D

I never do it, though. Not only am I not aware of it, but it seems pointless. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Huh? Earth Hour is today? :|

I completely forgot about the damn thing. But here in Texas, we only do it for half an hour and we go crazy :O.

My family never really wants to celebrate it for that reason. It's not really my fault.

It's a nice idea in theory, but it's more for the promotion of the idea of saving the world from global warming than actually doing it...An hour without using electricity is having absolutely no effect on peoples carbon footprint. I think the whole idea is rather silly...It's just trying to convince people even further that global warming is a scientific reality and not just a theory. =/

I can't believe I forgot. Oh well, there's always next year.

I doubt that's how it works, but either way you're missing the point. It's symbolic.

Eh, I'll probably forget to do it. I'll try to remember though.

Sooo any of you guys heard about this? Like switching off the lights for an hour. And it will happen in my country today in 8:30 PM. Though I'm not cooperating with them, am I voting for global warming?

This was done in Iceland 2 years ago or sum.
