itch.com is an ambitious endeavor to make searching for news and information more efficient. While general search engines like Google, MSN, and Yahoo! boast about their ever increasing number of pages spidered and indexed, at itch our goal is to focus exclusively on the leading discussion forums, news portals, and knowledge sharing blogs on the Internet. Too often the major search engines return too much noise and not enough substance. Our belief is that by limiting our index to industry leading sites, we can provide better results for our users.
We have several tools that we use to achieve our higher standard of search results:
1) Forum Minder
We feel online discussion sites provide some of the best knowledge sources available online. Our spider and search technologies are designed to monitor and index the best forum sites on the internet covering a wide array of interests.
2) Headlines Database
At itch we have incorporated over 10,000 of the leading news and information sources into our headlines database to ensure our users will have access to current news and information on all subjects.
3) Blog Reader
Blogs (otherwise known as personal weblogs) represent a growing source of expert information on a wide range of topics. We have incorporated over 20,000 blogs into our search engine to provide users with access to this vast and growing area.
