election planning thread

this thread is more or less a placeholder until tyler comes online to elaborate on what we're actually doing but i'll update/plan as need be

right well since tyler is dead rn i'll just start setting it up

also if we're supposed to be using css then honestly you're shit out of luck if you think i have any idea how to do that
so hopefully there's a template we're all using

so i'm going off tyler's description here:

'The 2016 election cycle is approaching quickly, and has arguably, already begun. With the turmoil of the pokemon world being pervasive throughout the plot of the anime and various video game series, it's time to make a change in leadership unless we should continue to allow the fate of the world to be in the hands of perpetual 10-year olds.

Candidates will be given a list of pokemon policy stances and moral dilemmas they must answer concisely in order for the elections committee to form a candidate profile. The submissions will be blind, and the constituents of PC must decide on who they believe made the best arguments for their stances while casting their votes. Obviously D&D isn't everyone's cup of tea, but my hopes are that the clash of the whimsical world of pokemon and the important real world political and ethical dilemmas, including but not limited to, the economy, civil rights, and foreign policy will be a fun way of incorporating D&D for the general PC "constituency's" participation.'

i'm guessing the users themselves are the candidates and we have to come up with stances for them to give an opinion on, like those live debates between candidates you americans seem to have pioneered
it seems kinda like that d&d university thing that i did that.... flopped
well i liked it and that's what matters

alrighty then
well
some examples that come to my head within the pokemon theme are

- the consolidation of most world finances into one singular corporation (silph co)
- the structure of government (or lack of it)
- inability to actually control organised crime
- healthcare (ties back into the silph co debate)
- legality of the way of pokemon itself (the battling, cruelty, etc)
- the environment
- war
- foreign relations with other regions and possibly other 'countries' within the nintendo universe (though these other countries would be largely irrelevant and only used as examples)
- if tyler could help flesh out these examples that would be grrrr-eat!!!

Ahh, I completely forgot about this! Work has been distracting me big time.

Expect an update on Friday morning at the latest!

Thanks for keeping the ball rolling!

no problem honey

- lack of organised military (or any kind of soldier) and how this largely seems to work
- economical, ecological and technological disparity between the regions (kanto vs unova)
- education seemingly limited to the basics of pokemon training; all other fields of work are either passed down through family knowledge or one presumably learns a trade through experience. all forms of education are free.
- everything is seemingly subsidised by the government, except for food and extravagances. government takes care of all citizens needs and leaves the pokemon aspect of life to the private corporations who essentially push battling as a business. money is mostly used for pokemon needs and if it weren't for the need to buy food and clothing and what not, one could assume that money almost exclusively exists to be used for pokemon training, pokemon maintenance and battling.
- the government/townships are a paradox: they take care of almost everything in a citizen's life, but are largely removed from it.
