Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Seth blinked. He looked over at Brendan and Jared. "Well, lets go guys."
Jared and Brendan nodded. They walked along the rest of the beach and approached the hotel. They all walked into the building. There was a small desk and a bookcase, that was about it.
"This is a five star hotel?" Jared whispered to Brendan.
Brendan stepped on Jared's foot. "Reservations for Brendan?"
The girl at the desk nodded. She motion towards the door. She also handed out room keys. But he only got two.
I wonder who is rooming with whom... Seth wondered.
"Okay, Macey and Emily." Brendan said, throwing the key to Emily. "And the rest of us."
The sun was setting. They all walked to their rooms. Macey unlocked the door and they walked in. Macey walked over and sat on the bed. "So what's the deal with you and Seth?"
Emily shrugged as she sat down on her bed. "I don't know. He says he is jealous of Brendan and Jared."
"Hmph. Wait until he meets Shayne." Macey said, getting under the blanket.
"Who's Shayne?" Emily asked looking out the window.
"Really hot guy I used to know. He's here in the hotel." Macey replied closing her eyes.
Really hot guy, eh? Seth should find this very amusing. Emily thought. She got under the blanket and looked out the window. She sighed. I just hope Seth doesn't flip out about all this...
The next morning they all got up and went to the restaurant. They all sat down at a table. No one spoke for a while.
Macey looked over at a boy sitting at the table across from them. She elbowed Emily. Emily turned to her.
"What is it Macey?" She whispered.
"See that guy?" Macey asked, pointing to a brown haired boy. "That's Shayne."
Brendan looked at Macey, then at Shayne. "Oh hey look, it's Shayne."
Macey looked at him. "Are you really that slow Brendan?"
"He may be strong, but he thinks slow." Jared said under his breath.
"Oh shut up Jared, it's not like your any smarter." Brendan replied, sipping the glass of water.
Emily looked up from the menu to see Shayne walking over to where they were.
Seth looked at Emily, then at Shayne. Who is that walking over this way? Oh joy...
"Oh, everyone, this is Shayne. Him, Brendan, and I were friends when we were younger." Macey said.
Shayne nodded. "Hello all."
"Shayne, this is Seth, Jared, and Emily." Macey introduced.
Shayne nodded. He looked at Emily and smiled.
Seth is going to be really pissed off about this...Emily said to herself.
"So, where are you all headed?" Shayne asked, sitting down between Emily and Macey.
"Well, we really don't know. I guess we were all going to go to Snowpoint City." Jared spoke.
"Yeah." Seth mumbled.
Emily sighed. "Seth, try to act like a good person, please?" She reached across the table and took his hand. "Please?"
Seth nodded and smiled. "Alright."
Shayne leaned back in the chair and crossed his arms.
"Shayne, what's wrong?" Emily asked, releasing Seth's hand.
Shayne shook his head. "Oh nothing."
Emily now noticed that Shayne's voice was like honey and velvet.
Seth exhaled. "Okay, I am really bored. Who's up for a battle?"
Shayne shrugged. "I could use a good battle.
Emily nodded. "Alright, I guess I could use a battle.
"Cool. It'll be me and Em—" Seth began to say.
"How bout me and Emily." Shayne said, cutting Seth off.
Seth narrowed his eyes. I want this guy to go die in a hole!
"Seth, it'll be fine." Emily assured.
Seth stood up from the table and began to walk towards the door. "You always say it'll be fine."
Shayne looked at Emily. "What's his problem?"
Emily shook her head a little. "He is a bit protective."
"Really protective..." Shayne mumbled.
Emily shot Shayne a look.
"Why is Seth acting like such a---" Jared began.
"I swear to god, if you say bastard, you will never see light again." Emily said.
Jared slumped in his chair.
Emily looked towards the door. "I should go talk to him." She began to get out of her chair.
Shayne, also began to stand.
Emily put her hand on his shoulder and pushed him back down into the chair. She turned and walked out the door. She began walking towards the Lake. She found Seth sitting at the edge of the lake, with his Gallade next to him. Emily took a deep breath and walked over and sat next to him.
Seth didn't bother to look up. He just threw a stone across the lake and watched it skip across the water.
"Seth, why are you acting like this?" Emily asked looking at Seth.
Seth shook his head. "Oh nothing it's just that Shayne is being a real--"
"Seth, this isn't my fault okay? It isn't my fault that Shayne mysteriously showed up. It isn't my fault that all this is happen." Emily cried.
Seth frowned. "I understand that but it just magically happens."
Seth's Gallade looked at him, then turned away in disappointment.
Emily took Seth's hand and looked at him. "You are always like this. Shayne will not come to Snowpoint City with us. Or anywhere else, I promise."
"I highly doubt you will keep that promise." Seth mumbled.
Emily let go of his hand and stood. "Fine then. Have fun trying to find someone else who cares about you." Emily walked back off to the hotel.
The rest of the group was standing out in front of the hotel.
"So what happened with Seth?" Jared asked.
"Go ask him yourself." Emily cried, wiping her eyes.
They all exhanged glances.
"Shayne, you go talk to her." Brendan said pushing Shayne towards Emily.
"Wait! Why me?!" Shayne shouted.
"Me and Jared already talked to her last time and Seth got pissed, so your turn!" Brendan replied. He pushed Shayne over next to Emily.
Shayne sat next to her on the grass. "Are you okay?"
Emily wiped her eyes. She gently set her head on Shayne's chest and closed her eyes.
Shayne wrapped his arms around her and held her hand. "Does Seth care about you?" Shayne asked.
"He does. Well at least I think he does." Emily cried.
"Well, I do." Shayne said.
Emily looked up at him. He was smiling a small, but sweetly. "Thank-you Shayne." She sat up and kissed him on the cheek. Emily stood up, holding Shayne's hand. She smiled. She released Shayne's hand and walked back to where the others were.
"So, did you guys talk?" Brendan asked.
Emily nodded. "Yes. I just need to talk to Seth about all this."
Shayne nodded.
"Is he still by the lake?" Emily asked.
Brendan nodded. "Yes. Mind if I come? Maybe I can help."
Emily nodded. "Of course."
The two of them walked to the lake.
Emily held Brendan's hand as they walked up to Seth.
"Seth, do you know what you did for Shayne?" Brendan asked.
Seth didn't respond.
"You gave him an opening to take her." Brendan relied.
Seth turned to them. He didn't speak. He walked up to Emily. "You can't let him do that."
Emily let go of Brendan and looked at Seth.
"Look, I am not going to let this happen again." Seth said. His Gallade stood behind him, listening to everything.
"Me either but, it probably will." Emily said. "He actually cares."
"I do too. Trust me." Seth said, holding her hands. "I swear." He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her head.
Emily nodded. Her mouth curved into a small smile.
"Aww." Brendan said.
Gallade looked at them all and smiled a bit.
They all left the lake, arm in arm, smiling.
"Looks like those two made up." Macey said smiling.
Crap! Shayne shouted in his head. This is screwing everything up!
"Well, lets head to Snowpoint City everyone." Jared said.
Everyone nodded. They all started walking when Shayne stopped them all.
"I never got that battle, Seth." Shayne said.
Seth nodded. He looked at Gallade and grinned. "Alright, one on one."
Shayne smiled and took out a Pokeball. The ball opened up and when the red beam hit the ground, it let out a Luxuray.
"I choose my Gallade." Seth said. Gallade nodded and stepped forward and stood in a fighting pose.
"Ready?" Shayne said.
Seth nodded with a grin.
