[PokeCommunity.com] [ENDED] Halloween event has begun!

My avatar turned black, I restarted my app, got this loading screen, transferred a Pidgey for 2x candies.

[PokeCommunity.com] [ENDED] Halloween event has begun!

    Happy farming, all!

I missed this by a few minutes when I first logged in today. Now I am updated as well and caugjt my 1st gastly plus a cubone bonus.

    First find was Hypno. YASSSSS
    Congrats!

I stumbled on this guy a block from home:

Edit: 15/14/10 for IVs and perfect offensive moveset, too (Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball)! Except it's only CP639 :|

This is insane! Cluster spawn of gastlys (3) + 1 haunter looking like they are chatting with each other. It's like the ghost dimension got opened this week.

    Gengar on sighting. Caught Hypno.

Last but not the least - Cubone and Marowak seem a special package. Are they part of the increased spwn rate? Marowak is my fave Gen 1 pokemon.

Yep, I caught two wild Marowak already. Cubone line definitely part of the package.

I also noticed more Meowth spawns as well, which is also fitting.

Both Gastly and Drowzee are very rare in my area, so I'm happy so see them appearing so frequently! Has anyone else noticed an increase in Cubone (and maybe Meowth?) as well? Because they're suddenly everywhere in my neighborhood.

Also, the reduced distance for buddy candies (and doubled candies for catches/transfers) are awesome. I could, potentially, add quite a few new Pokedex entries that otherwise would've taken a long time because of it.

    Thanks Niantic!

Love the login artwork, I'm going to miss that when it's over.
First encounter was a cluster of Gastly, Haunter, and finally a Cubone! Been looking for one since the game came out <3
Already getting lots of candy for my Squirtle. Hopefully I can evolve one and get Wartortle candy before the event is over, so I can actually have a Blastoise after all this time.

Ever since the Halloween event began, both my mom and I have been having very frequent errors that force us to restart the app. And then when we do that often it won't load up. There must be something unstable about this build of the code in the Event.

Today I biked over 8 miles with pokemon go opened but I must say I did not get credit for 13 km worth of Dratini candy. Somehow, I get only 6.4 km worth of candies. I'm not sure actually if biking gives you candy faster than walking. I did some tests on a 0.5 km loop, and walking gave me 0.4 km worth of candies, biking more like 0.2 km in candies. I was biking quite slowly, and I never got the "You're going too fast!" message. Nonetheless, biking seems to give less candies per actual km for some reason.

Curiously, I can get up to 0.4 km/hr worth of candies with the phone stationary, due to GPS drift.

I haven't heard of any recent changes regarding this so I'd assume the following remains true.

Egg steps won't count for anything higher than 12 kph (7.5 mph or slightly above average running speed). The "too fast" message won't appear until roughly over 25 kph (15.5 mph or above average cycling speed).

Man I am having a blast. I've already racked up like 120 extra candies of each of the Halloween event Pokémon and that's from a single two hour trip, excluding transferring the very very many I captured. Still need to do that. Found a wild Gengar too, my first. Next step is evolving a better Haunter because that Gengar is 82CP. /yay

Thanks to this I am currently out of catching balls to use. ;(

Ahh ... thanks for the info! It is too easy to exceed 12 kph on a bike. I figured it didn't matter until I got the "too fast" message, but I was wrong. Jogging may be the fastest way to get candies
