EPL 2007-2008

well we seemed to draw 4-4 with aston villa which was a good game. i know 3 people got sent off, 2 from Chelsea and 1 from Aston Villa. i though that Derby were gonna draw with Liverpool but Gerrard scored in the 90th minute.

Negative Pompey = Phail. Seriously. Teams who just want a point taken against Arsenal would go there to play for a point, and not play football. The match wasn't even worth watching. -_-

United fans, don't be too happy. West Ham did trump over your sorry hide last year at home. Realistically they could very well repeat it.

Yes, but last season we didn't care because we had the title and they were fighting for their lives. This time we will be trying.

Also, I enjoyed that Portsmouth vs Arsenal game. Not because Arsenal dropped points but it was a good match to watch.

Best moment of the match - William Gallas in the 6 yard box - How could he miss?

Best moment of 2007. West Ham are gonna win 2-1. Shocker of the week: Tottenham 6-4 Reading. Reading were leading 4-3 at one stage, but conceded 3 goals in 8 minutes. West Ham are gonna get beaten at the Emirates next week though. >=D

Arsenal won 4-1. Not playing at their best, but winning big. That is the hallmark of a classy team. We're top again.

Man Yoo were teh dirty, unfair, unsporting winners! >=O

They don't care if the opponent is down; they just play on and take advantage of that one man down. >_>

Arsenal on the other hand deserved their victory over West Ham. 2-0. =DD

My prediction this year is also that it will be a two horse race between Manchester United and Arsenal. These two teams play strong, attractive, breathtaking football, a great advert for the English game. Chelsea are just boring, and will never be the same post-Special One, and Liverpool just don't have the class in my opinion. They have a handful of world class players (namely Torres, Gerrard, Xabi Alonso), but they just can't cut it. Man City/Villa will be threatening their top 4 finish at this rate.

However, no bias intended, I feel that the title is going to Old Trafford once again. Why, may you ask? Well, as as been well documented, there are lots of young players in teh Arsenal team, most of which have never challenged for the title before. My opinion is that they will buckle under the pressure towards the end. Manchester United on the other hand have a whole squadful of experienced players, and their steely resolve will see them through. If Man United want another Treble-winning season, this season they have their chance.

Nice prediction DD.

I never though Liverpool could title challenge they have the top class players you mentioned but thats only a few, the rest of the squad is mediocre players.

Tottenham [Might be too late this season actually] and Man City and maybe Everton will push them all the way for a top 4 finish this year.

Well, it depends. The last time Arsenal got 50 points at this stage or at least topped the table... (actually, they've never gotten 50 points at this stage. XD) they lost out to Man Yoo in the end. I'm convinced Man Yoo cannot keep the title because if the pattern stays true, this year, Arsenal win it.

Of course, there're other factors. The slip-ups, beating each other and generally getting the results they want. The vital turning point could be when Man Yoo face Arsenal later on. If Arsenal win it and are still top at that time, then it's time United fans admitted defeat - that their team was just outclassed and were outperformed when it came to certain matches (the most recent being the West Ham loss).

It'll be close but at the moment United can maybe get an advantage over Arsenal since Arsenal have some players on international dut.

I know that we slip up when we really cant afford it though. so that'll make it level.

I think the youngsters of Arsenal arent yet ready for a title though and they may start being to tired and not perform well nearer the end of the season.

My prediction - United clinch just slightly. But then again I am biased. It could go either way and I certainly dont see Liverpoo or Chelsea lifting that trophy at the end of the season.

lolwuttiredplayers? Arsenal have the fittest team in the league. All of their players can last 90 minutes of electric-paced football. And the players leaving on African Nations' duty are only three: Song, Toure and Eboué. We will miss these players but we've got more than enough talent to cover for these three. Djourou can cover for Toure, Song has Diarra, Flamini and Gilberto covering and Eboué has Walcott and Hleb covering.

Arsenal are in the fourth round of the FA Cup, by the way.

Great performance by my local team Stoke City against Newcastle in the FA Cup. Replay on Wednesday, without a Manager I can see Stoke winning.

And the biggest story so far in January: Anelka signs for Chelsea for £15 million.

I saw that coming the moment I knew Chelsea were going for a striker. I wish Anelka all the best (he was a former Gunner after all) but Chelsea cannot expect immediate improvement because... well, he needs time to adapt to the Chelsea system.

And because of Brum parking a bus in front of their goal after equalising, we lost 2 points and Man Yoo top the table on goal difference. >_<

Poor Newcastle. 6-0 is really hard on them. Guess what? All six came in the second-half.

If Newcastle do beat Stokes, they'll face Arsenal twice in three days; I've checked the fixture list. Hopefully we'll beat them by big scores and get ahead of Man Yoo again.
