Escaping into other worlds

There are some truly incredible worlds built for video games, complete with their own rich histories and lore, unique races and creatures. What are some of your favorite worlds from video games? What kind of worlds in general draw you in when you play games (fantasy, sci-fi, modern, post-apocalyptic, etc)?

One of the ingame universes that ive always been quite a fan of is Warcraft, and thats spanning from the days of it being a household RTS title (Warcraft 1 to 3 TFT lads) to what it is right now. While predominatly its Medieval Fantady of Greenskinned Orcs, Humans, and Demons, by Warcraft 3 onwards the introduction of several more races further diversified the setting such as the Technologically advanced Goblins that offer an interesting Steampunk mix to Warcraft's typical medival fantasy skin tone. So its quite a sight to see looking at some swords, sorcery, sandals, shields, sallets, and steam powered mechanized suits.

Other universe that i particularly enjoy is Warhammer 40k, which btw to me is greatly portrayed in Video Game form than in its original tabletop form. You have what looks like your guns and grints Space Marine oriented world but with a mix of Greenskinned Orks, Tau, Necrons, Chaos Space Marines, Heretics, and up. Some people might even say that Warhammer 40k is basically Warcraft in Space but i would take that as a complement.

Question 2:
Theres a bunch of themes and settings that i particularly enjoysuch as:
- Sci Fi
- Modern to Post Modern
- Post Apocalyptic
- Fantasy (Warcraft is already a decent example being a weird mix of many facets)
- Alternate History (eg Wolfenstein)

Question 3 what kinds of things draw me to certain worlds:
- when theres many breeds of evil such as Demons, Nazis, White Supremacists, Militaristic Dictatorial Bastards, Terrorists, Communist Scum, and many others to rip and tear asunder. Rip and tear, until it is done.

Any game where you get to be a tiny character in a normal-sized world.

For example, even though Chibi-Robo (Gamecube) was a ridiculously easy game, it was really fun to be going around a house at that size.

And even though Wind Waker gets a lot of hate, I really enjoyed sailing around that world, charting out the map and exploring islands. There was just something really fun about that. :D
