I've read a lot about ev training and I understand it mostly, but I was wondering if you have to fight the same pokemon consecutively or can you alternate as long as they both give the same stat bonus? For example, would fighting many Shellos' and Bidoofs (+1 HP) give me the same effect as fighting just Bidoofs?
Also whats best to ev train a Turtwig in?

You can even alternate between stats. Once an EV is gained, it can't be erased, except by a Berry that says it does that (the Pomeg Berry for example). So yes, you can fight a mixture of Pokémon that all give the same EVs. You can also fight a mixture of Pokémon and gain several different EVs, but it's not as easy to keep track of.

Ok cool thats good to know.
Another question though. Today I was ev training my level 27 Turtwig for HP. I fainted 79 Bidoofs in a row and I only got +7 to my max hit points. I don't think thats too bad but I was expecting more because I thought for every 4 ev points you get in a stat it raises by 1. So 79 divided by 4 is 19. Why didn't I get +19 to my hit points then? Is it just because my Turtwig is still at a low level or did I do something wrong?

its probably because it is a lower lv
the later the level the more gain is showed
but there no advantage or disadvantage to higher levels
