Suggestion: Event Announcement Section?

I'v been a regular on PC for quite a while now and I have yet to see a forum or thread dedicated to telling everyone the newest event announcements. To any Mods reading this, If it does exist and I'v just not seen it please lock this post to save my embarrassment....
Anyway I have alerts set up that e-mail me when a news story is created about a new event announcement, but most people probably can't do that or don't know how to. I thought a forum or sub-forum on PC would be extremely useful for anyone wanting to collect Events or just find out what Nintendo is releasing, but doesn't have the time to comb through the Internet or google translate foreign websites to see which events are going to be released soon. It's much easier for a member to subscibe to a thread on PC where they can receive emails about new events and perhaps links to news stories from one location.
I'm aware seribii is the go to for event info but they generally don't add info to there site until the event starts, this board would be based on information released prior to the events release.

I know we used to have a News subforum, where news about Pokemon/Nintendo-related things were posted as threads via a bot known as Newsbot. The whole thing was disabled because Newsbot went a little crazy and its threads were drowning out everything else in the forum, when it was posting everywhere (video games and I think Pokemon General when it was under a different name).

I think there has been discussions on bringing something like this back to the forums, but the idea never really went anywhere. Part of the reason is because news threads get posted by the members when they want to actually discuss the news (like in video games with the FFVII remake or Nintendo's NX project, or even in the Round Table for real life events).

So that's how PC handled news events: we're not a place where people go for news (as you said, Serebii is where people go for Pokemon news); we just provide a place for people to talk about the events with other members.

I vaguely remember the Nintendo News forum from a while back...I never realized it was run by Newsbot though.

Different sections tend to handle it differently. There was a thread for ORAS news back when the games were first announced--it was necessary due to the sheer volume of news being released at the time. Since events are rather few and far between lately, it's not a necessity per se like it used to be, so right now in ORAS, we normally just make a new thread with a News prefix--I'll always make a point to post one, if someone hasn't done so already. Don't forget that you can always filter threads by prefix by clicking said prefix at the top of the forum. Also, you can subscribe to forums and receive email notifications about new threads posted each day, but unfortunately there's no option to filter those email notifications by prefix/category, which if it existed would actually be really a really useful for receiving news updates, imo.

As far as ORAS goes, I'll make extra sure to stay on top of the latest news and I shall make sure there's a news thread up for it sooner than later :)

Edit: We could have some sort of event index thread in each of the current generation Pokemon gaming sections...but in my experience Serebii actually does a pretty good job at announcing events in a timely manner, or at least they did with the last few. So I feel like Serebii would make that a bit redundant :v

How about a board based on general gaming news and different sub sections for different games/topics so people could subscribe to a certain news board without having to check lots of different websites to find out about news.
Then they could discuss the news on the thread pertaining to what they wish to discuss? It could make it abit easier as right now games discussions and new Pokemon news discussions happen over a few main boards.

There's likely not the demand necessary to build an entire system for this, nor is there enough content to fill an entire section with. If people want to discuss or post specific news articles, whether they be about Pokemon or gaming or world events, we have areas already set for those.

Possibly there could be a way to coordinate the tags/prefixes we use for threads and conglomerate them into a "News" search that displays results, but that'd likely be a question for our development team.

Might I also mention that there is already a similar system in place with our Buzz Thread (More focused on getting things featured on Social Media) as well as the Bulletin Board subforum which can also be subscribed to. The Bulletin Board is more forum specific news though.

They can also keep an eye open on our social media outlets too; as we often spotlight news events there when the news threads are interesting or particularly exciting! So in essence we do find things from time to time; it's just not a dedicated feed.
