By that I mean have you played through (and beat) a pokemon game with no official guides, or any internet help.

I was on my own for my sapphire version. Completely new pokemon, new region, IN FULL COLOR, and no backlight (played it on the original GBA lol). I got stuck in so many places its unreal. Also I was on my own for diamond. And again I got stuck in a lot of places (mt. coronet anyone?)

Yeah, the games themselves pretty much follow the same pattern, do this, then this, and then do that. I only used one for the first gen, because i was like 5? Then I realized, they all follow the same basic storyline: beat the bad guys, beat the gyms, beat the e4 + champ, catch legendaries.

The first game that I played on my own was Pokemon Ruby. When I got stuck, I usually just tried to find a place I haven't been to, I then I go on. Most of the time, I was following the feeling of my gut, and usually I was right. The hardest part on Ruby was when I had to find the Aqua Team's hideout in Lilycove City. I swear I took almost a week trying to find out where to go. Got even more frustated each day, and when I finally found it, I was greeted with a battle from Wally. I was llike, "WHAT??!! I battled over 20 trainers and took a week to find the exit, and now here comes the battle with Wally!!!"

    Sequence of my reaction: :cer_eek: :cer_disbelief: :cer_blankstare: :cer_pissed: :cer_no:

Hm, the only time I ever went through a Pokemon game without assistance was my Pokemon Sapphire. To be honest, it took me weeks to just get to the next sequence of the storyline.

    Emerald
    Ranger
    Diamond
    LeafGreen
    Platinum
    Hg/Ss (when i get it)

-Basically, i never use guides. I only ever got stuck twice:

Emerald:Couldn't get out of Slateport, coz i spoke to Dock, then didn't go back to the museum. Needless to say i left Slateport 100 full heals better off (Battle Tent:()

Ranger:Couldn't catch that blasted Charizard. It wasn't that i didn't know what to do, i just couldn't do it.

Only Pearl, in Red I had a guidebook and in Silver I had some children's anime magazine which had a walkthrough of GS in it, which pretty much looked like a Meganium solorun until the player added a second Pokemon, Mantine, to his team. On RSE, I had Bulbapedia since I never played them outside of emulators.
So, the only thing left is Pearl, which I in fact beat without a guide. Well, except for the 7th gym, I had to watch a youtube video because I couldn't solve the puzzle.

More or less. I played the last generations like that, just checked some info about the moves my pkmn are about to learn, but the least I could.

Now, in the first two generations there were no secrets for me, and it was still awesome. IDK.

Every one. I think Walkthroughs take the fun out of playing a game because you already know what to expect. I like to play games and be like *gasp* oh no he didn't. lol

I beat all of them with no help... Other than Diamond and Platinum.

    First time through sapphire

This was technically my first time going through a TRUE pokemon game (my first pokemon game played was pokemon stadium for the N64)

Yep, back when I first played GSC when I was 8. I was stuck in Ice Path for days....

I don't know how, but not only did I manage to beat every single pokemon game without any help. I also found each legendary pokemon.

To this day I think I have a certain hemisphere of my brain dedicated to knowing where every single secret in Red and Gold Version is. The newer ones didn't have quite the impact since I'm not as impressionable now as I was when I was six or so when I initially played Red version.
