5th Gen Evolutions Discussion

Soooo, Serebii has informed us that Feebas now evolved via the lameoid "Hold Item+Trade" method. Anyone else disappointed by this?

I'm not. Maxing out beauty on Feebas was always a huge pain in the butt.
But that may have happened because of the lack of contests and contest stats on the summary screen? Oh well, I'm not bothered anyway. XD

Yeah, I'm disappointed. The "maxing out Beauty" requirement was a nice little quirk. Not only was Feebas insanely hard to locate, its method of evolving was a puzzle in itself, so obtaining a Milotic was like a fleeting dream.

Without a guide/walkthrough, the only way I could see a typical player evolving it is if he/she just so happened to prepare Feebas to enter the Beauty Pokemon Contests. Moreover, you usually level up the Pokemon you spend time with, so the level-up thing might have been covered... Other than that, the only clue you had was Milotic commonly being cited as one of the most beautiful Pokemon ever. I'm already annoyed that Contest stats were (apparently) removed in BW, and that virtually destroyed one of the nicer aspects of Feebas' that made the little fish so unique, aside from its infamous rarity.

On a side-note, I've been hearing talk about a Power Ranger Pokemon... It'd be awesome if to evolve it via maxing out the Cool attribute of its Condition... :D (if it even has an evolution, I don't know for sure)

High Evfolution levels

So i'm playing my version and look around at the levels for my team evolution ...
And my god most of my team evolve over level 50.
Not complaining but i usually don't work toward that level for evolutions unless its a dragonite.
But i do think its a bit of freshair from the norm

Just a note - due to evolutions discussion being popular, I moved the existing posts from the base stats thread to a new thread based on what was posted first about evolutions, so yeah.

Something I've noticed with the Pokemon in B/W, is that most of them have final evolutions (or first stages) that don't even look like they belong in their evolution lines.

For example...

Heh, I'm sure lots of people have noticed this one. I mean, just look at Mijumaru and Futachimaru. They both have the rounded heads, small pointed ears, and somewhat cartoon-like looking shells. You can see the similarity very well. But what's up with Daikenki (I don't even know if that's how you spell it x3)? It suddenly went quadrupedal, and lost every shred of a resemblance that it had to its predecessors.

Look at the final stage compared to the rest. See any resemblance? I don't get why its chest suddenly turned green, and it lost the pink color in its feet. It doesn't even look like a pigeon anymore. It looks like a quail, or some kind of peacock. =/

In this line, it's the first stage that looks out of place. It has no claws like its evolutions, and doesn't have the red spikes. Instead, they're brown. Not really a HUGE difference, but I just wanted to point that one out. :P

Wait, what? What's with the red color? I find it strange that this line kept the same colors for two stages, then suddenly changed. If the middle stage had a different color as well, then it would work out, IMO. But this seems kinda... random, don'tcha think?

Once again, look at the first stage. WHAT IS IT? It definitely doesn't look like something Desukan would evolve from. Even if they both have the little cat mask thing. =/

The problem with this line, IMO, is that the first stage looks more cartoonish and feminine, but the final form looks like an actual dear, and somehow became masculine. I still like these two, though. :>

OK, I REALLY don't get this one. The first stage looks like something out of Winnie The Pooh (or Winnie The Pooh himself!), then it becomes all feminine lookin', and looks like an Espeon. O_o

But yeah, I just wanted to say that. x3
I think GF may be trying something new with the evolutions n' stuff. I'm also not very fond of the extreme leveling gaps between some Pokemon. >:/

Eh, I like the unexpected evolutions. It's better than evolutions like Chillachino which look just like its previous one, except slightly bigger, and obviously with better stats and more fur. I know some people dislike it, and while I do not (I think it's cute and I like its scarf-fur), I really do think that for something that evolves with a stone it should have changed lots more. O_o

Anyways, I'm actually cool with Feebas' new evolution method; I honestly love Milotic but since the 4th gen he's been inferior to many a bulky water, so it's pointless to continue to evolve this thing via such a complex method when it's not even all that good to begin with. It does take the uniqueness out of its evolution method, though; I'm starting to think GF hates it for some reason and that's why all they gave it this gen was Cute Charm (via DW... can you say idiotic? the hell is she supposed to do with that?) and a common evo method. :>

Finally, I'm actually annoyed with some evolution levels. There's no reason why our toxic pokeball mushroom friend should evolve at level 39, seriously; it's going to be a struggle raising the little thing, but at least you'll be rewarded somewhat because as far as Grass/Poison types go it's got the best defenses of any of them (barring Venusaur) and the best ability to work with it (Regeneration via DW, though Effect Spore isn't bad).

Of course, in the case of stuff like Urgamoth it sorta makes sense, since it's an epic fire moth, although I still think level 59 is a bit too much; it should have evolved at level 45-50, or else with a Fire Stone or Sun Stone, since it's not like the bug is common anyway so you wouldn't find such a powerful Pokemon right away. :P

Gigiga-whatsit (the dark blue with the red spikes) is justified by it's Pokedex entry.

I think the gators can be excused for sheer awesome. Has anyone here heard their cries?

Little Desukan is a burial mask.

Shijika's line... Well, somebody's been watching Bambi.

The eel things... I think the first form is a cuttlefish or a lamprey or a leech or all of the above.

I don't think I can justify the others. xD

I'm guessing that Warubiru has been sunbathing a lot, or maybe that's blood. Remember Charmeleon?

Anyway, Meraruba is now my favorite Pokemon. It's so cute, and I like how you receive it and how strong it becomes. Kibago's also on my list.

I heard there's a Pokemon that evolves at level 59?

That's hardcore. Seriously. I thought level 55 to get a Dragonite or Tyranitar was heavy enough.

Well... I love The Dark-Steel line, though The final evo lost most of its awesomeness.
Chanderaa's evo line is also cool, and make sense: Candle-Chandlier. Love it :P

There Are some Crazy stats on The new pkmn.

Actually, there is a pokemon that evolves at lvl 64 :P

I don't think you understand the concept of evolution. Also, there is tons of resemblance. You're just paying attention to color, which doesn't matter at all. And that pink mask is only for the male form.

Color doesn't matter, at all. Things change colors in nature. Don't see why Pokemon can't.

It's an Egyptian burial mask. The second stage is an Egyptian burial coffin. Makes perfect sense to me.

They're leeches, not eels. Also, since leeches do not need to live in water, and they do not breathe water either, that explains the lack of water type. Although I do think they should have been Poison or Bug as a primary type and not only electric.

My comments are in the red.

I had really high hopes fot the pidgein Pokemon. In my opinion they ruined it.
But I love Gigaiasu evo line! In my opinion three best pokemon of the V gen!

Yep, Meraruba the caterpillar (Bug/Fire) evolves into Urugamosu the moth (Bug/Fire).

And the one that reaches its final stage at level 64 is our pseudo-legendary (Dark/Dragon hydra called Sazando; nicknamed Hydragon).

- - - - - - - - -

@Surmonter:

Actually, I would argue that they are lampreys, not leeches, and the electric typing comes from the so-called electric eel (which is not an eel, or a lamprey for that matter). Why it doesn't have a Water typing is beyond me, but then again, who cares? It doesn't need it, since it's got Levitate, which makes it awesome 'cause it has no weak. I won't be using it because it looks gross and disgusting to me (just like real leeches, eels, lampreys and electric eels) but yeah, I don't think it's a leech. However, perhaps it's based on elements of all these critters combined...?

What do you think?

I am pretty sure they were lamprey's not leeches.

is meant to be a pidgeon anymore. Silimilar to the peacocks the males are colourful so they can attract females.\

Ad with the lamprey line I dont know what the first evo is... It could be the larvae.

The way the males are colorful and the females aren't is basically what gave me that thought. :P
