I just brought a new computer running Vista Home Premium but I am having some trouble extending the desktop onto my VGA enabled TV screen.

I have the main screen plugged into a DVI port using a DVI adapter and my second screen is connected through a VGA port, there is a spare DVI but as I don't have another adapter does anyone know why the VGA screen won't work and if they do how can I make it work.

    Thanks for the Help.

Are the two DVI sockets on a graphics card, and the VGA on the motherboard? If that's the case perhaps the onboard card is disabled somewhere as it wasn't needed.

that sounds like a possibility is there anyway to change that so that i can get screens from both.

you need to go into the display properties (desktop> Personalize> Display settings) then choose the second monitor to display from the VGA. (note: you may still need to go into your device manager and enable it there)

ok, will this hamper performance in anyway as its reading from 2 graphics cards and what am i looking for in the device manager
