Since the old speculation thread died a few weeks ago, I decided to make this one. Anyways, it looks like the Fairy type will have their debut in the X and Y TCG.

The Pokémon Game Show is about to begin in Japan and promotional material from those there has already begun to reveal new information. First off, is TCG news. It appears that within the TCG later this year, it is confirmed that Fairy-type Pokémon are to have their own special Energy within the TCG, as symbolised by the image to the right. This follows on from the addition of the Dragon-type last year when it became the first new type in the TCG since 1999. We'll bring more details as they come.

What do you guys think about this new addition? How much do you think the new type will affect current strategies? Would you use the new Fairy type cards in your deck? What do you think of their collectability? Feel free to discuss your opinions about the Fairy type in the TCG here ~

I really like it. However, I'd be happy with any new type just for being a new type. I was actually hoping for an Alien and/or Cosmic type to be introduced, but Fairy's good too.

Although, I will be mad if Clefairy (the one that is most obviously meant to be this type) is left out of it. I mean, what's taking them so long to conform that already. You'd think it'd be the first one. They've retyped Mawile as a Fairy type, but not Clefairy? Of course, that is assuming they're not going for a Sudowoodo type situation.

Considering Jigglypuff and Clefairy are often considered a corresponding duo and Jigglypuff is confirmed as one, it's highly likely that Clefairy will be included as one.

I am curious as to whether they'll have any effect on the metagame, especially if they're brought in with just some special energy cards as their primary energy types. That might make them completely unplayable.

As long as Fairy is a basic energy type and not special, this is awesome. I wonder how well supported it will be.

And since there's not another thread at the moment, how about that Team Flare supporter? I don't know if you would want to play it instead of your typical 'draw x cards' supporter, but the effect is still handy to slow down the opponent.

If they become their own type with their own energy card, I wonder what type will be super effective on fairies in the TCG :)

I'm glad that Fairy will get a type. It's very appropriate considering that the Dragon type was inducted not too long ago. The initial X and Y set should feature plenty of Fairy type cards so that everyone can form solid strategies with them. I can see them being used more for their abilities rather than power. I'm looking forward to adding them to my collection, but I still haven't obtained any Dragon type cards yet...

The dragon type got let down a fair amount. They didn't get their own energy and just became a type which required different energy to use attacks. I hope they don't let this type down as they did dragons :( !
I don't know if there are many fairy Pokemon in the game to even require the type. I would much prefer a Ghost type !

I think they'll get an energy card, hopefully basic. Dragon-type Pokémon already existed as colorless before they were given a type in the TCG, but with 6th Gen. Fairy types being brand new they won't have any previous existing type (except current Pokémon that have been retyped). Hopefully they won't fall under the colorless category. I can also see Dragons getting a basic energy to coincide with the Fairies if they do get a basic energy. Is there any reason why the Dragon energy cards were not created?

EDIT: Fairy type energy is confirmed :P
