xD treeko is in 3rd place woot!

I liked Chimchar because he evolves into fire and fighting elements. By the way, you forgot pikachu.

Chickorita for Jotho, and Bulbasour for Kanto.... I don't play Sinnoh at all, and for the only Hoeen game I have I picked Mudkip.

I like to keep my starters at the same stage they are, actually! It's like, when you go to compeat with someone, and you see, "Piper will be sending out Chickorita!" You don't expect a level 100 monster coming out! It's always great to see the look on the kids faces (:

It's different for each type I never really liked the final water starter evolutions. Turtwig is probably my favorite Grass starter though, as for fire it's close between Charmander and Cyndaquil

It's very difficult to say between the originals and the Jhoto, but I went with Chikorita.

Definitely Torchic, and not just because it evolves into Blaziken. ;)

Well, for starters, it isn't the generic "lets get a animal and paste fire on it's back\tail!!!111" :\ Actually, it doesn't look much like a fire type, except its colouring, which amkes it look interesion in my opion. :O Also, I think it is definitely the cutest starter, and since I love cute Pokemon so much, i fell in love with it at first sight. <3 :3 Also, I love chicks, and not to mention when I was younger I used to loe drawing Torchics. xD <3

However, I should mention Charmander\Chikorta\Piplup too! :D They are also adorable. :3
I love Torchic too, mostly because it evolves into Blaziken, my favorite.. xD Hehe.
It's also a really cool Pokemon. And unique. Only fire start without a 'C' to start with.
And most of what they said ^ there.

My favorite starter would have to be the Pokémon I disliked the very first time I saw it. Treecko, when I first received Pokémon Ruby on a Christmas morning and started playing the game, I saw Treecko as an option and because I was young and naive at the time I based it upon its looks. I chose to go with Torchic instead. However, after a few years I decided upon restarting the game and actually went with Treecko, the one I disliked the most. After playing through the game with it, I realized Treecko was the best starter I ever chose, regardless of its looks.

It made the game's difficulty higher than before which was a plus, because I did think the game was too easy at first. Also, with him being new to me, it made my journey all the more worthwhile. Now, even after playing through all the other generations of Pokémon up to now, Treecko's like of evolutions still remains my favorite. Though, I can say, I do like to keep it at its second stage when I do have it on my team (in-game of course).

My favourite starter is the oh so classic Cyndaquil. When I got Pokemon Crystal, I wanted to complete the game as well as I could so I found a walkthrough on PokeDream and followed it. When I got the the part where I chose the starter, I decided to pick Cyndaquil as it was described as the easiest starter and best for a first time player. Once I continued playing through the game I really loved using Cyandiquil. The moves it learned were awesome and suited it perfectly. I actually think the Pokemon influenced me of describing the Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal saga as the best.

When I got around to evolving it into Typhlosion, I thought it was the Pokemon with the best aesthetics and strength (obviously I didn't know as much about Pokemon as I do now). I actually thought that until I saw Darkai - 2 generations after.

Then when I played Mystery Dungeon, I was lucky enough to pass my personality test and get Cyndaquil. After completing the game and evolving fully, my respect for Cyandiquil and it's evolutions grew even further.
