In general, Bug Pokémon have low HP and Defense and decent Attack and Speed scores.
Bug is weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock, however, it's strong against Grass, Psychic and Dark.

- Why do you, or don't you, like the Bug Pokemon?
My favorite Bug-type Pokemon...? Yeegh. Let's see..:
Scyther: it looks VICIOUS. Freaking scythes for hands, it can fly, and it looks...powerful. A praying mantis Pokemon gone right, indeed.
Scizor: How could you NOT love that sleek red metallic skin? It's STEEL-type and metallic, as well as having more effective pincers than its pre-evo. All around BA.
Yanmega (and Yanma): Their anime cry is awesome, and a mega dragonfly is freaking awesome. I REALLY wish it was a Bug/Dragon-type Pokemon with Levitate, though!
Heracross: WHACK. WHACK. WHACK. WHACK.
Wild Heracross used Megahorn!
The foe was flung away! A well-built Pokemon with cobalt blue skin, a horn that combats even the toughest of foes, and awesome game and anime cries! And it's part-Fighting, based on a RHINOCEROS BEETLE!
Spinarak: I like the color scheme a bit more than Ariados's. I loved this thing ever since I saw the cute faces on its abdomen. :) And the shiny coloration is awesome as well!
Beautifly (and Wurmple): some of the first Bug-types I came across in Sapphire. Beautifly with its majestic, regal look in flight, while Wurmple is cute with a nice color scheme. Amazing.
Masquerain (and Surskit): Eyes to ward off any foes, with Surskit having a cute cry and Masquerain having an intimidating cry and ability! Their names sound awesome, and Masquerain is quite threatening. And it can even Hydro Pump its foes away! Not to mention that Masquerain signals the arrival of rain.
Ninjask: Although real-life cicadas are freaking pesky as heck, this guy looks awesome and posses and awesome ability. And it's a FREAKING NINJA CICADA!
Shedinja: This quirky little guy is a bit strange, but cute and somehow cool in his own way. Awesome ability, though crappy HP.
Wormadam and Mothim: Nice designs and simple names.
Vespiquen: Freaking awesome name, and a perfect parallel to Beedrill. With three fitting signature moves, as well!
Kricketune: Awesome name and design that incorporates a violin - I can't wait to hear its cry, which I've heard a lot of people buzzing about on the interwebs!
Sewaddle: Haven't seen the evos yet, but this guy is cute as heck.
Scolipede: I wish it were called "Venipede"...either way, a monstrous millipede Pokemon that can learn Earthquake, with an unusual color scheme to boot, comes with its own awesomeness as well.
Crustle: Unfamiliar with its line, but definitely cute.
Galvantula (and Joltik): AN ELECTRIC SPIDER. AWESOME BY DEFAULT. I cannot
wait to nickname this thing Tarantesla. ^^
Ulgamoth (and Larvesta): AN INFERNAL MOTH. AWESOME BY DEFAULT. Volcarona will be an awesome nickname for it.
Beedrill (and Kakuna; Weedle): Ever since Generation 1, this guy has been Twin-Needlin' its foes to 0 HP. Bring back Twineedle's ability to Poison Steel-types, plz! Kakuna still creeps the heck out of me despite its coolness, and Weedle is cute as well (STOP POISONING ME IN
FIRERED!)
Butterfree (and Metapod; Caterpie): Another classic, the evolution of Butterfree in the anime was well celebrated. An intriguing Pokemon as well, with its Psychic abilities. Butterfree's pre-evos are classic as well, with Caterpie being one of the first Pokemon viewers ever saw. VERY cute, too!
Venomoth: Butterfree has an edge on it, but the design is still likable in its own right.
Ledyba and Ledian: They're just so...Pokemon-ish! Great ladybug warriors, indeed.
Parasect (and Paras): Awesome cries, especially the anime one. PAIRRRRRRRRR-A-SECT.
Volbeat/Illumise: Awesome in theory; a firefly/lightning bug Pokemon! WHY AREN'T THEY PART-ELECTRIC-TYPE WITH LEVITATE?!!
Pineco: Nice teal metallic design, and prone to Explosions!
Pinsir: Guillotined me so many freaking times in the Battle Tower (unfairly! >:[), but this guy is still great.
Escavalier/Accelgor: I just feel that the names could have been
better somehow... I dislike the trade mechanic a bit, but their origins are awesome; especially Escavalier's, who
steals its opponents shell for usage. Accelgor's design is somewhat awkward and uninspired, but I'm glad we get a Bug-type ninja/mummy.
Armaldo: BATTLE ARMOR PREVENTS CRITICAL HITS! Armaldo used AncientPower! Cool Pokemon, and I'm glad he manages to incorporate the stegosaurus tail into the design. I have fond memories of receiving Anorith, my first ever fossil Pokemon. :]
GenOsect: I'm going to familiarize myself with him come
Gray Version, but his design is freaking awesome (color palette, I'm slightly iffy about) and his ability to shift Drive Formes via Cassettes is amazing. The only other thing I can mention about this guy, who is undoubtedly on track to grow
more awesome and BA as time goes on, is: DENNIS DENNIS DENNIS DENNIS DENNIS...
Shuckle and Forretress receives Honorable Mention for being themselves. I love Forretress's high defenses, but I hate how Forretress copies Scizor's typing.
Also, Beedrill and Scizor
so need to get back into
Super Smash Brothers (Genosect would be awesome in there, as well).
Top 10:
Scizor
Scyther
Heracross
Ulgamoth
Genosect
Galvantula
Masquerain
Butterfree
Scolipede
Spinarak
Honorable Mention:
Vespiquen
Ninjask
Beedrill
Kricketune
Pinsir

Least favorite Bug-type? Possibly
Durant, but not by much. It just looks too Fakemon-ish to me...it's not
that bad, though. :\ Also, Dustox. It looks a little ugly, but I've grown tolerant of it.
Bug Pokemon are nice when combined with another type. Bug/Flying and pure Bug-types somewhat dismay me due to their plethora of weaknesses. :( I also dislike it when Scizor's typing gets copied - and that happened
twice three times since then! I guess "
exoskeleton=metal" a lot...? I also hate how they're resistant to Fighting-type - I mean, the typical way to dispatch of spiders and ants in real life is to
SMUSH THEM WITH YOUR FIST! Only if stingers and fangs are there do you get adverse complications...usually. -.-
Also, I really hope we can get a legendary Bug-type Pokemon boxart mascot some day... (and Giratina
and Celebi don't really count... >_>)
LOL...I've been thinking that Celebi was Bug/Grass all this time! Turns out that it's Grass/Psychic. XD Well, at least we have Bug/Grass (Paras/Parasect) AND Grass/Psychic Pokemon type combinations existing! :cer_laugh: So Celebi's not as weak as I thought... When you've never owned a certain event Pokemon, they can do this to you. >_>
