What was the most satisfying battle that you have experienced in a fangame or ROM hack? Who was it against? Was it because of the creativity and forethought behind it, the challenge and/or difficulty, the atmosphere, or another reason?
From the ones I've finished, there are three games in particular in which I had quite a few super fun battles: Radical Red, GS Chronicles, and Rising Earth.
I love challenging battles against well made teams with proper movesets, abilities, interesting strategies and held items, that make me strategize and sometimes even think a bit out of the box and try different tactics to win. That is, of course, as long as said difficulty is balanced around the moment in the game I'm at and, preferably, avoid stuff like trainers spamming legendaries or full restores.
Here's just one example of gym leader double battle I loved (at 31:00). Status conditions, weather, entry hazards, perish counts, switch forcing, switch preventing, stat boosting, stalling, trolling... it was a very funny mess of a battle. I don't even remember what was the leader's theme (because she wasn't type focused) but I had a lot of fun in that battle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fmHOtEcwMI&list=PLQf4QSqXUpfE2xWKar3LpqAAbu8COXrG6&index=20
