Bag option isn't gone, just not in wireless (and most likely Wi-Fi) because you can't use the feature anyway. And it could be like the Vs. Recorder but in battles?

Well, you can't use items in player battles/Battle Frontier, so perhaps you can only record battles in said events, so it wouldn't matter if you could view your items at those moments or not.
