( seem is linking verb and can be only used either standalone, or with followed by adjective, to-infinitive, impersonal construction, as-conjunction, that-clause, and with nouns. Generally we don't use seem in continuous form. Hence "seem the" feels wrong to me somehow , please correct me if I am wrong somewhere)
