Firefox 3.5 will be released on June 30th

Imagine the shitstorm that would ensure from say..OpenOffice.org if Windows shipped with Microsoft Office by default? :)

I think OpenOffice.org would have some balls and man up. Apple should also be included in this law suit that's happening. Don't want to force people to use safari by default ;3

I also noticed that there's no themes for 3.5 D: and I really can't be bothered using persona since it usually fails for using the persona theme for me

Aside from the price hike if they did add it, I think you'll find OpenOffice is just provided as a free alternative. Sun Microsystems only makes money from offering support, which is usually taken up by businesses that either choose to run the product or run Linux/Solaris.

Considering the amount of Market share Office already has, it wouldn't make much of a difference if it was included.

I don't know why this has turned into a IE debate, but it's worth noting that you'll get your computer-illiterate people that want to be able to click "the big picture of the E with Internet Something underneath it" and have "the internets". These people wouldn't have a clue how to choose between browsers and if they did, they'd almost undoubted pick IE8 because it has Microsoft and Internet in it's name. There will be people like this. At the end of the day, they're probably left with IE, where everything looks the same and they won't get confused. Whereas people like us can just download our browser of choice and never look back.

At the end of the day, competition creates progress from all the parties involved, trying to outdo each other and ultimately providing more competitive products.

And from convincing people to switch to their slightly better StarOffice, which costs money.

Maybe a better comparison would be what Microsoft is poised to be able to do: include competitive anti-virus software in their OS. Their new "Microsoft Security Essentials" is currently besting Norton in some tests; if they included it in their OS, it could severely hinder competition. The argument is that this is an abuse of their position as an OS vendor to gain market share in different competitive fields.

When I first got the update the browser froze a lot. It was beginning to get a little ridiculous.

Ha for me it stopped freezing like hell. Only instances were for PC with the maintanence.

I've gotta update my Firefox now. It seems to fix a problem with Javascript on some sites.

I updated my Firefox a few days ago. There are a few nice features/interface upgrades, but the first thing I noticed was that my Tab Mix Plus and Firebug extensions stopped working (although, the latter has since been fixed).
