1st Gen First minutes playing Pokemon red/blue?

I was excited when i got my red version. I chose a charmander. I just didn't know how to train pokemon because all I did was skipping trainers and going ahead of the story and get lost. lol I was young. xD

I got red version and the first few minutes was me being frustrated because i couldn't get out of the house.

Since I first played Yellow, I'll take the liberty of extending this question to Yellow.

It actually took me a while to figure out I had to leave town in order to 'find' Oak.

I was with my cousin, he had blue and i had red, each time we actually seen each other we ended up choosing different pokemon, for instance i had Charizard and Hitmonchan and he had Blastoise and Hitmonlee. It was good time, we were linking and i was a Pokemon master already.

i was so excited!!

Lolll Bring's back good memory's ..

I remember i had a Squirtle .. andd at first i didn't know how to leave the house.. and i was pissedd lol!!!
Then i got my first badge and i was like "WHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

hint's why Water Pokemon are one of my favorites .. lol

(;

i was quite excited but when the prof. was talking, i was all like, "blah blah blah, just get to the good part!" XD

The very FIRST time I played pokemon blue, I couldn't figure out how to leave my room. I didn't know what the stairs looked like. I was 8 at the time.

Um. When I got the game I was Five. Guess what the game kept saying?
"The saved file is corrupted." followed by something something something.
However, a few years later I picked it up and it worked, to my amusement.

lol i hate u guys.
all bringing back my old memories.
i loved it when pokemon was huge at school and everyone had the game, the cards and talked about the show and everything.

RIP best days of my life <3

My first game started like this:

In Oak's Lab: OMG A DRAGON!! I'm picking Charmander!
(after 20 minutes of wandering around before stumbling upon Oak's Parcel)
Viridian Forest w/ ember: OMG THIS LITTLE DUDE RULES!!

First battle with Brock: ......? what happened? i died already?
Second, third, etc, battles with Brock: AGAIN?!?!

I had no idea about type matchups or stat modifiers or anything. All I knew was damage.

Ah, the good old days...
I remember it like it was yesterday...
In Oak's Lab, I walked around aimlessly for a while. Picked up a Bulbasaur, found Oak's Parcel.

Ran through Veridian Forest, telling my parents how good my Bulbasaur was.

Battled Brock about 20 times before beating him.

Memories, memories...

I LOVE the following two posts. Memories....

LOL! XD Me too man! I was like "Okay..... I know you're going to give me a pokemon. I know that fire dragon pokemon is in one of those grossly oversized pokeballs over there. And yet.... you're still.....talking...." *rapidly presses A*

This is exactly like my first minutes. However, when I was in Viridian forest, my Charmander ended up getting poisoned. The screen started flashing, and I thought something was wrong with the battery. XD

And as far as type matchups.... I never did figure it out until I got older, meaning I beat the game without much thought in it. I even took on Misty with Charmander! (who became a Charizard after repeatedly killing staryu and losing to Starmie) I did have some variety when I challenged the E4, but my LV 100 Charizard still frequently took on Water types with Fire Blast.

Lol @ my 10 year old self.

Well, about type advantages i found out pretty quickly cause i read the manual while my gameboy's battery's were recharging. But i remember thoghts like this:
"Growl, sounds cool, i'll try this move out... Wtf, no damage? That's completely useless"
"Leech Seed, what is that?... What, so little damage? This move completely sucks, why can't you learn something useful, Bulbasaur?"

Because i was thinking like this i never found out how awesome RBY Amnesia is, most of my Pokemon had 4 Attacks, and mostly three of them were either HMs or of the same type

For Example:

Charizard Lv. 100 (yes i used the Missingno glitch)
- Ember
- Flamethrower
- Slash
- Cut

Only my Nidoking always knew Thunderbolt and Bubblebeam, because i had heard that Nidoking is sooo good when it has these moves...
Do i need to mention that Nidoking was always my most overleveled teammember before i reached Cinnabar Island and brought all my pokemon to Level 100?

Yeah I did use to think moves like Growl were useless. And I went by PP (the lower, the better) to decide how strong moves were.

The first time I played the English cartridge one of my friends imported from the US, I was "What the heck?", and I found the battle system boring.

The second time, I played the Spanish one and chose Bulbasaur instead of Charmander, and I couldn't stop until I beat Misty XD I still find it quite amazing.

I played Red first and i didnt understand what was going on at all! first role pley game i ever played, got me confused, i was used to platformers! ^_^

My first was Pokemon Yellow. I was SO irritated because Brock was the first gym leader, and also because I couldn't actually see a bar of leveling up after every wild Pokemon battle. That in itself really infuriated me. I was used to G/S/C's leveling up system, so. lol.

I must have been about seven or eight years old and I got a Gameboy Color and Pokemon Red for Christmas, I was so excited we almost had a NINTENDO 64!!1!11! incident. So I started playing straight away, ignoring all other presents (you know the crap like clothes, books, etc.) and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, I kept pressing random buttons through Professor Oak's little speech at the beginning and finally started playing, I was moving around thinking "OMG OMG OMG THIS IS AWESOME", after about twenty minutes I found my way to the grass where Prof. Oak took you to his lab and I chose a Charmander. Such fun times. I think that I actually remember most of my team. xD

Charizard
Butterfree
Beadrill
Nidoking
Pidgeot

All I remember is being in pewter city and thinking
OMG I SEE, I NEED A KAKUNA TOO CONTINUE.
Only because that bugcatcher had one. Having a Kakuna surved no purpose to continuing :S :P

I got red to start with.
I remember my team still :)

Venasaur.
Fearow
Clefable
Wigglytuff
Poliwrath
Dugtrio
