FIRST!!!

There is a "fad" on youtube where the first comment usally says first on a youtube video. Pepole are sick of pepole commenting about, which is a reason for pepole to get annoyed by the word first.
 
If you're looking forward to new comments only to find it's "first" then it's a bit disappointing.

But still I do think people get a bit over-heated about it. Since people get annoyed the trolls like to do it now just to annoy them further.
 
It's really annoying. I have 8 videos on my account and all of them have a comment that says first and then like 5 complaining about it. NOTHING about the video.
 
Because it's spam and it's useless.

With a thread like this it's all I have to say.
But now, really, in my country nobody complains about that. Maybe it's because a lot of people don't now the meaning of the word, or just maybe we don't get anoyed with such little things. I don't have any problem with that :S
 
Because no one cares if you have first comment on a youtube video with 230 views.

They just think it's cool to be the first person to comment especially on youtube if the video is made my someone popular or the video is bound to become popular
 
Because it's spam.
What else needs to be said? Nobody likes spam.
 
Haha, I agree with all the SPAM thing.
I mean, seriously, take the oh-so-good example of DeviantArt.

Artists, Talented artists or not, worked hard on a piece, and the first comment they get is : "WoOooooOOot !! FIRST COMMENT" and nothing else behind.
And they do not work to get things like this, what they want is constructive comment, or critics, or compliments.

You could say they want to make some humor, but yeah, rarely will they find someone who thinks it's not a SPAM message xD

So they are not technically willing to hurt, but they are still annoying people when just putting a "FIRST COMMENT OMFG" on a page. cx
 
It's spam, it's annoying and probably a let down for whoever made the video/picture that's being reviewed.
 
Well to me the whole "First" comment thing is sorta spammy. No matter what the person who says it comments on. :x
 
Because it's pointless and annoying spam.
 
Call me crazy, but it actually made me giddy the one time someone on dA commented 'FIRST!' on one of my paintings (they also made actual commentary, but that's kind of beside the point for the purpose of this thread). I guess I just see cries of 'FIRST!' there as a sign that the piece or artist in question is good enough to warrant someone thinking they have to rush to comment first before others flood in or somesuch. My stuff rarely gets comments, but that person apparently assumed it was going to, and I take that as a compliment.

In other places? I think the whole 'first' thing is just harmless fun. I don't see it as real spam or trolling or anything. It's just something some people like to do, and it's not hurting anybody like real trolling might. :/

But isn't it a bit annoying when they rush and don't even come back to comment ? Or put some compliment/critics after their "first" ?
Some only do that because they want to be funny, but yeah, there are some moments it can get a bit...annoying xD
 
It doesn't really contribute anything to the discussion. It would be like like if you're talking with a bunch of your friends, and anytime a new subject was brought up somebody shouted "FIRST" (and possibly a second person, who would then follow it up with "DARN"). I think everyone would have to admit that would get annoying, and it's no different (to me, at least) on the internet.
 
I don't get why people care so much.

"Woohoo, you're first to comment on a YouTube video, which likely had 100 or more hits at the same time as you, whom you wanted to out-match. Good job having entirely too much time. (b ' ' )b"

Not sure who those people are trying to impress.. xD;
To me it makes me them appear as they don't have much else better to do, then hit up all the pics / videos hoping to get first comment.
