    Figured I'd make this thread to catch the opinion of other people too


    So Flygon and Garchomp are the two unique Dragon/Ground types, both having high Attack and Speed stats. Garchomps attack is superior, but the rest of his stats are around the same or 2 notches higher.

    Before gen 4, Flygon was my main Pokemon I used at the start of every battle, competitive and ingame. As soon as D/P came out, it was off with Flygon because everyone uses choice band Garchomp with superior speed and 1HKO Dragon Claw


    You can imagine how upset I was to find out my team top was replaced by an uglier land shark with a, unfortunatly, better stat pool and movesets

    So I made this poll to see how many people favored Flygon to Garchomp, or vice versa
     
    I've never payed attention to stats n stuff, so apologies if you're looking for an answer based on such. Flygon is nicely designed and the color of Christmas, while Garchomp's head is too awkwardly proportioned for my liking, so I pick Flygon.
     
    Appearance wise, I would choose Flygon. However, if I were to do competitive battling, Garchomp would be seen in my main roster.
     
    Due to me hardly caring about stats...

    Flygon is my pick. It visually appeals to me over Garchomp's design.

    And before I hear any groaning at my reasons why, do heed the fact that it is normal for me to pick a team over their appearance rather than their stats! :3 I just play to play, not to go "WHOO HOO I CAN BEAT ALL THESE PEOPLE OVER WI-FI~!"
     
    i choose garchomp, its more cooler than flygon!
     
    gotta go with Flygon, after all he is my second favorite pokemon behind Manectric

    plus Flygon looks awesome, and Garchomp just looks awkward.
     
    I'm glad that most people agree with me that, aesthetic wise, Flygon takes it. It just looks so much composed and grand. I used to love using Flygon, I remember when it was actually my favourite Pokemon a while back.

    Garchomp has proved had proved a lot of usefulness to me, but I just don't love it. It's easily the winner between a battle with Flygon. But I still prefer Flygon, the undedog.
     
    There's a mystery about Flygon. I think its more beautiful and better fits my teams.

    Nothing against Garchomp, who has higher stats and all, but Flygon's moveset is more intersting to me too.
     
    I pick flygon all the way i always use flygon on my team
     
    I don't play competitively, and I don't care for stats, so I pick Flygon. I personally think that it has a better design than Garchomp. I mean, Garchomp is a... torpedo and a shark and a jet plane with spikes and... it's purple?

    Frankly, most of the 4th Gen Pokemon designs confuse me. Then again, every generation has had its share of odd looking critters.
     
    Garchomp is the only dragon i hate.

    So....Flygon ftw!!

    Specially as my only ever team of lv.100s was in Emerald:
    Flygon
    Salamence
    Altaria
    Rayquaza
     
    I prefer flygon. So much less ugly than garchomp. XD
     
    Flygon has wayyyyyyyy better design than Garchomp will ever have. Seriously, Garchomp doesen't even have a proper shiny sprite.

    The ONLY part of it that looks different is a small part of its tail.. FAIL nintendo.
    If I found a shiny Gible I would cry because Garchomp's shiny form is barely different lol..

    but if I found a shiny Trapinch then I would scream in joy.
     
    I think Flygon has a lovely design. The colors and style are interesting. I also see it as a very elegant pokemon. From its species being Mystic Pokemon to the fact that it is known as the desert's spirit makes it seem graceful.

    Garchomp on the other hand comes off as a big loud ugly mess. It's so unappealing to me. It reminds me of a terrible combination of Sharpedo, Nidoking, and Machamp. I hate it so much. >:o
     
    I fail at competitive battling, to the extreme. xD I've actually never used either, as I've been too lzay to take the time, so appearance-wise, Flygon takes the gold. Besides, Garchomp is fugly. xD
     
    Well, I've never used Garchomp, or want to use Garchomp, so Flygon FTW!!

    Garchomp to me just seems like a last-minute-we're-running-out-of-ideas Pokemon. What's it supposed to be based off of, anyway? :/

    Flygon has a greater movepool, Garchomp is UBER, but it depends. Flygon has the advantage of Levitate, which makes it immune to Ground attacks, plus Spikes. Garchomp has superior speed, which can knock down Snorlax anytime...

    But Flygon is still my favorite. Simply because it's majestic. Garchomp=weirdo.
