Focus Shift

Josh had come up with a new cover story for that seemed to cover him, Kris, Raike, and Miharu, now Michio. "I've got a story that seems probable and works for all of us, Me and Michio" he started, stumbling slightly over Miharu's new name, "are performers, Kris is an apprentice, and Raike is our guard" he said simply, "It would make some sense, Raike is armed so he could possibly be a guard, I can play, Michio, you obviously have many talents that could be used to entertain, and for Kris being an apprentice would explain why he would be traveling with us and take care of the issue of him not being skilled in any performance arts" Josh said, explaining how he had come to this back story.
 
Michio raised an eyebrow, raising up the sheathe with his Sai. "And this little thing is for decoration?" Michio sighed. He didn't want to shoot down Josh's cover story, it worked somewhat, but it still had some holes. "Honestly, I do not want to shoot down Josh's cover story, but it does leave some glaring holes. However, let us have a vote. Josh's cover story or my cover story?"

Michio suddenly tensed, turning around with his Sai, both blades, in each of his hands. There was something that was making his instincts shouting at him, what he did not know. Michio glanced around, before finding his instincts calming down. He sighed, the Sai disappearing from his hands, noticing that other(s) had reacted as well. "Sorry, but something suddenly made my instincts shout at me. Whatever it was, it is either gone, or it has managed to fool my instincts."
 
Josh was obviously for his own plan, he didn't want to bring any violence unintentionally upon them by claiming to be mercenaries, "The weapons could easily be explained away" Josh said, he thought carefully before he explained it, not wanting their to be a misunderstanding, "Its always useful to be able to defend yourself, guards are help but no substitute for being able to protect yourself in case the situation calls for it" he said, hoping that they would get the point he was trying to make.
 
"A guard huh? Well, honestly, I don't care, I'm tired. If we can find a bed or something to sleep on I will be content."

-Raven nodded, yawning simultaneously with Raike. He stretched a bit, thinking it over a bit before talking again.-

"As a matter of fact, I'm going to have to go with Josh here. His story does have some holes, but it won't be too hard. Besides, it also means I won't have to hide my weapon....and I hear guards were popular..."

-Raike snickered a bit before he interrupted himself with a yawn-

"By the way, why did you suddenly just tense up like that...Michio"

"What the crap?" Harley said as she saw the other four, far older and far dirtier than she had seen them the previous day. The were quick to strike, swords at Kellyn's neck. Anthony quickly defended him but then Miharu accused both him and Harley of being dead. Harley raised her eyebrow.

"I think a "hello" or a "how are you" may have been nicer," Harley snapped back. She was too far into a bad mood to even think about being nice, especially to Miharu, world's biggest hobag. "Do I look dead to you?" Harley thought about that for a second. She probably did, with the bruises, the stained clothes, bloodshot eye, bandages. She probably looked like a walking mummy. Miharu said something about them being a illusion and Anthony, sighing, then disappeared, pressumably to the Aether World.

"Great!" Harley threw her arms up in her air, then immediately regretted it as the cuts burned. "Just go somewhere where I can't at the moment. This sucks! You suck! Why can't you say "oh hey, come join us for dinner and stay the night, maybe have a shower to clean off the seven layers of crap that are currently growing on you" instead of trying to kill us. I have almost died enough this week." Harley huffed. Ceri, although he was tired, wheezed a little in laughter under Harley.
 
Kellyn stiffened less as the others disappeared. He sat down, palms sweating. He looked at Harley, "What the hell did I do?" he asked. Bliss moved towards him, trying to comfort him.

"Great!" Harley threw her arms up in her air, then immediately bringing them down again. "Just go somewhere where I can't at the moment. This sucks! You suck! Why can't you say "oh hey, come join us for dinner and stay the night, maybe have a shower to clean off the seven layers of crap that are currently growing on you" instead of trying to kill us. I have almost died enough this week." Harley huffed. Ceri wheezed a little in laughter under Harley.

"Don't worry, I'll stay. I'm not going anywhere with them right now," he snorted. "What the hell happened to them?"
 
"Well, I don't think they," Harley nudged her head towards the empty space where Miharu and the others stood where she pressumed in the Aether World, "will let you go anywhere. And seriously, who cares? Shifting is evidence enough that we aren't illusions." Harley sighed, sliding off Ceri to the ground to let him on the ground to rest.

"But I wonder what this Earth's you did to piss them off so much! I guess you killed us or something!" Harley laughed a little.
 
Michio sighed, feeling slight annoyance at Raike. It was not because of his decision, anyone can have their own opinion, it was just that he hated repeating himself and he had already given the answer to which Raike just asked. "I have already said the reason why I 'suddenly just tensed up like that'. Raike should have listening lessons. As for the background story, it seems that there is one vote for Josh's and no vote for mine. Obviously I am not counting Josh or myself as we would not be impartial."

Michio couldn't help but think something was wrong. There was something about this situation that was bothering him. They were near a forest, but it seems to be utterly silent except for them talking...Michio's hand went to the sheathe of his Sai again. "I seem to have figured out the reason why my instincts were screaming at me a few minutes ago. It is completely silent; in nature, there should be no such thing as completely silent."
 
Josh listened to Michio's observation without much surprise, "The silence may be a sign that something is wrong, which we knew anyways since for what other reason would Giratina send us back in time?" Josh said.
 
Before Michio could remind Josh that it was Dialga that sent them back in time rather than Giratina, he was stopped by a loud roar. He pivoted around, his Sai already out and Sei growling below him. It was an Ursaring, except unlike others of their time, this one stood on all four feet and there was a bit of blood on his jaw and in his mouth. Michio guessed that the Ursaring already had a taste of human or pokemon flesh tonight and wanted some more.

"Sei knows what to do." Sei nodded, glowing blue and then yellow. There was a yellow square that surrounded Sei and the other pokemon and a blue sphere inside of that yellow square that also protected Sei and the other pokemon. Light Screen and Reflect. Then, Sei closed her eyes and started to glow white, gathering psychic energy to herself. Calm Mind.

The Ursaring growled at the group, blood dripping from his jaw. Michio grinned at the others. "I have not had a pokemon battle for a bit, I can handle this. Plus, I have not been using Sei so much in battles, I should battle with her before she gets rusty and loses to wild pokemon." Sei glared at Michio who winked back. "Sei, toxic."

Sei nodded, before spitting out a purple, poisonous substance which hit Ursaring. He roared in pain as the poison seeped through his skin.
 
OOC: Suddenly, a battle! =P

Josh looked on as Michio and Sei dealt with an Ursaring, from the looks of which was looking towards them to be its next meal. Michio and Sei seemed to be dealing with it well so Josh didn't bother interfering, but as he looked on another Pokemon appeared, it took him a moment to place it because it was covered in blood and carrying a dead Pidgeotto in its jaws. It was a Persian, and it looked like it was going to join in the fight.

Michio was distracted by the Ursaring so Josh decided that he and Odessa should take care of it, "Odessa, quick attack" Josh said, Odessa smashed the Persian head on, it stumbled and dropped the Pidgeotto. Odessa quickly jumped back as the Persian attempted to bite her, and jumped back once again as the Persian tried to hit her with its claws. "Hyper beam" Josh called to Odessa, Odessa jumped back from another bite attempt and then unleashed a blinding beam of light that completely engulfed the Persian.

When the light cleared the Persian was still their, obviously weakened but by much less then Josh had expected. Odessa was too tired to evade another swipe from the Persian, which left a large gash down her side. Before the Persian could attack Odessa again Josh had launched himself at the Persian, knocking it on its side. Before the Persian was back on its feet Josh attempted deliver a kick which the Persian managed to avoid it. The Persian quickly got back onto its feet, its attention focused on Josh, and attempted to claw his leg off. Josh jumped backwards, avoiding the attack with an odd grace that didn't seem to fit him. Josh kicked out and hit the Persian on the left side of its head, the Persian shook itself and gave a full-body lunge at Josh. Odessa smashed into the Persian's side in mid-air before it reached Josh, knocking it to the ground once more. The Persian gave a frustrated growl before returning to its feet. "Return!" Josh shouted, Odessa slammed into the Persian, it quickly recovered and launched out at Odessa again, hitting her with night slash. "Odessa, use Moonlight" Josh commanded, Odessa's yellow markings started to glow as her wounds healed. The Persian saw this as a chance to attack and attempted to use Fury swipes. Josh threw himself into the side of the Persian, taking them both down to the ground, the Persian quickly recovering before Josh who was now vulnerable, and Odessa was still healing with moonlight. The Persian jumped at Josh, claws bared, Josh kicked out and managed to hit it in the stomach and knock it to his side. Josh scrambled to his feet at the same time as the Persian, Odessa was still healing, "The Persian must have done a lot of damage with that one hit earlier then he had realized" he thought. The jewel on the Persian's head glowed for a moment, white light like that from a Hyper Beam, "Oh, this is how I die" Josh thought, the Persian opened its mouth.

OOC: Jump in and save Josh from the Persian if you want, otherwise i'll just have Josh save himself. =P
 
Michio thought that dealing with the Ursaring was quite easy. All it took was a couple of Psychics and it lay fainted near a couple of broken trees. Thankfully enough due to Sei's masterful dodging skills, she had not taken any hits. He came out of battle mode, noticing that a Persian had joined the Ursaring and Josh was battling it with Odessa, and he saw that Odessa was healing with Moonlight and Persian was about to hit Josh with hyper beam. He reacted quickly. "Sei, psychic on the hyper beam! Return to sender!" The order was right on time as Persian had launched it's hyper beam. Sei stopped the hyper beam in its tracks and aimed it back at Persian. Persian, not expecting the hyper beam to just stop and return, was hit full force and was blown off his feet. Persian hit a few trees, breaking them, and lay still. Michio petted Sei, who nuzzled his hand. "Good work Sei."
 
Josh looked on placidly as Michio got Sei to redirect the Hyper Beam back onto the Persian, causing it to smash into some trees before lying on the ground, unconscious. "Thanks Michio, now lets go before more hostile Pokemon appear" he said, rushing his words a little. Odessa's rings stopped glowing as she finished healing and walked over to join Josh.
 
-Raike observed both trainers, watching how well they worked with their pokemon, smiling. He did feel like the double team on Persian was a bit unfair, but then what WAS fair? He ran over to the Ursaring after Michio had finished with it, checking if it was still breathing, which it was. He walked over to the Persian, frowning. It was still breathing, but faintly. Raike lifted the Persian, placing it on his back, and began to walk toward the village. Raven followed, keeping pace beside him, she also seemed to be smiling.-
 
Michio sighed, knowing the reason why Raike had taken the Persian with him to the village. It was annoying that Dialga had taken away his first aid kit that he always carried around with him on his person. Otherwise, he could have patched up the Persian himself. He also noticed that the Ursaring was getting up, and tensed, but the Ursaring knew when he would be defeated once again and left. Michio glanced at Sei. He knew that she didn't have any injuries, but still felt worried for her all the same. He blinked when he realized that he was the only one without an Umbreon. Although he did have an Umbreon back at the gym. Michio glanced at Josh and Kris, before walking after Raike to the village. "As Josh said, we should probably get to a place where we will not be attacked again. We can go with Josh's cover story when we are at the village. When we have found a place, or at least actually get to the village, we can send a message through the Aether Realm."
 
"Alright then" Josh said, affirming Michio's acceptance of the cover story and following Raike's lead into town.

Kellyn sighs, "I don't know why I would though," he says. "I mean I barely know any of you so..." He gets carried off in his thoughts. I must have really did something bad, he thought, I hope Anthony sorts it out. He looked at the seemingly tired Tauros and the cart. Do they really have to use that, he thought.
 
Anthony and the Alternate Shifters returned to the Contemporary Realm shortly after Shifting to the Aether Realm. The Alternate Shifters were still very tense; Anthony had even cut himself with the Alternate Miharu's blade to show them that he bled and already the cut on his arm had begun to coagulate. "So," he said matter of factly, "are you going to trust us? or not?"

The Alternate Miharu lowered her blade, replacing it at her belt, as did all the others. "For now," she said, hate dripping from her voice like venom, "but if any of you show any signs of turning, then we will not hesitate to kill you." They turned around and jumped back into the cart, Miharu at the front where she could drive the Tauros. "You coming? or do you want to die in this hell hole?"

Anthony motioned for Kellyn and Harley to join him in jumping into the back of the Tauros drawn wagon. He sat down beside the Alternate Kris, tapping him on the shoulder only to find it was made of metal. "What happened to your arm, Kris?" Anthony said.

"The traitor," he glared at Kellyn, "over there cut it off. I was given a cyberkinetic one at the colony." Anthony watched as Harley and Kellyn jumped into the cart, Kellyn seemed a little out of place, Anthony wouldn't blame him since he had apparently committed treason that he had never committed.

Anthony was puzzled, "So what happened? To this world, to Kellyn, everything?" he asked.

Josh cleared his voice as the cart got moving, "A year ago we were called upon to save the world from destruction, the world from the fate it suffers now. All seven of us found each other and set of on a journey to defeat the Great Evil. Within a month, the world was dying and we had no clue about where to go, or who to kill, so we wished upon Jirachi for a guide. Giratina from the Distortion Realm visited us and told us of Arceus' plan to destroy the world and build anew; and that it was up to us to stop him. None of the legendaries could possibly destroy their creator; they owed too much to him and he was also too powerful for them; only we could do it. We climbed up to Mount Coronet to confront Arcues and kill him before he could destroy the world. We failed. Kellyn turned against us, Arcues promised him great power and rule over much of the new world, so Kellyn allied against us. See we all needed to work together, all seven of us were needed to kill the Great Enemy together as one. We fought Kellyn and Arcues, but lost. Kellyn killed Harley because she could 'Death Walk', a rare ability among Shifters, he cut off my arm then too. Anthony made a break for Arceus and almost made it, but Kellyn protected his master and killed Anthony too. He pushed Anthony off of the Spear Pillar before he could reach Arceus."

Anthony was shocked, Kellyn did not seem to be the kind of person to commit treason, but then again, they only knew each other for a couple of days. "What about our Catalysts?" he asked.

It was Raikes turn to talk, "They disappear; Catalysts are the other half of a Shifter's soul; just on the outside. While the Shifter's body remains, the Catalysts' disappears to follow their Shifter."

Harley listened as she heard the history of this world. Arceus, she knew that Pokémon. He was the creator of all Pokémon and was apparently the first Pokémon ever to be born. She had always found this theory quite confusing, as Mew was considered the father or ancestor of all Pokémon. Whatever this all meant, it meant she had seen Arceus in this life, as well as Giratina and Jirachi. It would all be kind of exciting except for the fact Arceus seemed to be in some kind of murderous rampage.

As soon as Josh mentioned her name, she listened. Death Walk? What was that? And why would she be killed for something like it? Her heart sunk a little bit. So, she was first to die here. Ceri gave her a look that said something like "I will always protect you."

"What's Deathwalking?" Harley said to Josh. If she had the ability in this life, did that mean she had the ability now? "Is... evil Kellyn still alive? And if you failed, how come the world hasn't been fully destroyed? You and these Tauros are still alive."
 
The Alternate Josh turned to Harley when she asked him about her 'Death Walk' ability and the destruction of the world. "Death Walking..." Josh started, "was Harley's special gift; only she could use it. As it suggests, Harley could literally Shift into the Death Realm. She never really told us much about it, just Shifting there scared her enough that she did not talk about it." Josh sat back and let Raike continue.

"Yes, our Kellyn is still alive, he sits beside Arceus in the Hall of Origin. The only reason the world hasn't been fully destroyed is because we Shifters are still alive. Once we die, Arceus can fully destroy the world. But the thing with us Shifters is that we remain hidden from the legendaries; they cannot find us in the world unless they actively seek us out. But with Kellyn at his side and Anthony and Harley dead, Arceus has no worry about us being alive since we cannot stop him without everyone together."
