So I've noticed that a lot of staff and ex-staff here have nicely formatted usertites and stuff. I was thinking if it'd be possible to expand this to members too? I'm aware (I think) that the Admin Control Panel must be used to format the usertitles, so it couldn't be open to all members due to sheer numbers, but what if there was a particular postcount to reach before you could get them, like with blogs? Or a certain posts/day, certain join date, certain number of emblems, certain contributor tier, etc.? Or just members selected by staff.

Just throwing ideas around here really.

The problem is is that it uses HTML and I heard a staff member saying letting everyone use HTML is a security hazard. That's why you can't use HTML in your posts either.

I'm afraid it's not going to happen anytime soon.

I didn't mean that the members would set the usertitles themselves. They'd ask the Admins to use the Admin CP to do it for them, so the HTML can be checked for hazardous content before being used. The issue I see is it just being another hassle for the Admins, but I don't know how much effort it'd take.

The Admins are pretty busy so I doubt they will have time to do it to with all the members who have reached that 'certain post count'. So, they probably won't do it, imo.

That would be too much work for them. A lot of the admins have to be working on new features and it would be hard for them because think how many people would want them.

I personally wouldn't want it, just because I want it so much, if that makes sense. I like to change my theme, and if I have the option to use colored usertitles for whatever reason, I would obviously want to take advantage of that. But if I change my usertitle every few weeks, it'll be a pain for the admins to do it for me all the time, lol.

If this was implemented, I would put a limit on it, like for every 5,000 posts, someone will change your usertitle 5 times overall, that way the annoyance wouldn't be too much. Although I do agree that some perks should remain moderator-exclusive, so I'm not sure.

I'm not saying I would love to have a colored usertitle but it would be too hard for the admins.

Instead of doing for post counts and such, [People could just SPAM to reach the limit?] I think it would be a good 1st place prize for an event. <:
This is actually a pretty good idea. If someone wins a certain event, they're allowed to ask a moderator to change their usertitle for them every... year or so, maybe? IDK. It would certainly reduce the workload, and would get more people to participate in events.

That is a good idea. An event would be nice, but they would need rules like you could only change it once a month for the event winner.

People spam to get blogs. I saw someone who was bragging about how he posted like 50 posts a day and was going to get a blog soon. He got banned obviously but people spam for blogs and for popularity. ("OMG THAT GUY IS SU PWNZ! HE HAS LIKE 1000 POSTSM.SABFJSKBHFSD")

    Eh.

There used to be a sort of thing here in PC a couple of years back called "PC Presidency". What you're suggesting is sort of similar to that in the sense that, whoever wins the title of "PC President"/Vice President not only gets their own colored username(bolded and whatever, but not related to any of the staff colors), but their own colored usertitle as well(I think this was included was it? I'm pretty sure it was).

If anything, there could be something like that to be brought up again, but I don't know how successful something like that would be.
That sounds pretty interesting. How long did it last before and then why was it taken down?

I really like dragonomega's idea here. I can't see a way it'd have any negative impact on the community and it's not a massive amount of work for the Admins to just change a single usertitle a couple of times, or even only once if need be.

I like this, but I can see why it is a staff-only perk, and I respect that, seeing as there are fewer and fewer of those. If I could provide a suggestion, if Twilight Sky's suggestion of the return of the "PC President" were not to return, then perhaps, we could have a small editor with Bold, Italic, Underline and Color controls for this. That way, staff wouldn't be bothered to change them, and we could change them at our discretion.
This is the only way I can see it working out so it avoids the html security issue. Somehow I have the feeling that implementing this would be more time and effort than any of the admins wants to put into it, if it's even possible in the first place.

To be honest, having the ability to customize the user title at all is pretty nice. Not saying I wouldn't try out more if it were possible, but really it's probably enough what we can do already.

If by "a lot of the admins have to be working on new features," you mean Audy and Jake, then, yes, a lot of the admins have to be working on new features. :)

In terms of the perk itself (not what the admins have to do to implement it), I don't understand this "think of the staff!!!!" concern for staff and the perks we have. Isn't being staff a perk in and of itself? I do know how much of a hassle it is with staff alone bugging admins to change their user title (which is why I don't do it that much), so I imagine it'd be even more annoying to have to do it for so many others, especially since most of the people requesting probably would't know much about HTML so the admins would probably have to convert the request to HTML themselves. I like dragonomega's idea for offering it as a prize the most, and am against the PC President idea, but I don't have an opinion on this. I'm indifferent, and don't really care much since it doesn't affect me in any way whatsoever...

And there's what? Like 8 admins? That's a whole fourth! And the ones who aren't working on features have lives.

Really? I wasn't aware of this.

I honestly don't understand it when people reply with these types of replies. Obviously they have lives; we all have lives. So I don't know what you're trying to imply with that response. Maybe the moderators should stop modding? Because, you know, they have lives too.

I know they have lives I know everyone has a life. I just meant most people assume that they don't need to do anything other than mod.

    No need for the sarcasm.

I don't understand why anyone cares about this, it's just a few new colors for a few words, not even like you can do the same to your own username. Now THAT would be something.
