Most Pokémon have three evolutionary forms in total, but what would happen if they'd start giving some fourth evolution? How much different would you expect them to look in design? How much of a stats increase would you want them to have? If a Pokémon winds up getting four evolution, would you want them to be excluded from getting a mega-form? Why or why not?

    Nah. Three works perfectly fine.

    Child - Teenage - Adult.

And I think it's pretty obvious that if there ever were fourth-stage 'mons, that they shouldn't have Mega-Evolutions. Besides Bugs like Butterfree, the stats would be insane.

The third stages could keep them, but should lose them on the fourth.

Aren't mega evolutions already like that? I count them as fourth...I think three is plenty, and heck, some pokemon don't even have that many :/

Yeah, I think the Mega evo is as far as they'd go with that. It's kind of like a fourth evolution for species like Alakazam, Blaziken and Charizard.

To be honest, I think pokémon would start looking a bit ridiculous if they added fourth evolutions. How many time can you change and grow a pokémon until it needs to be really big and have strange bodyparts or accessories to look unique? Look at Digimon. Of course, Digimon has a whole different view to what makes a great looking monster. But still, their final evolutions can look really cool strange.

I also think competitive battling might become unbalanced if they added a new, stronger, stage at this point. (well hello there Mega evolutions lol) I'd prefer more alternate evolutions instead! Like Gallade and Froslass.

I gotta agree, four is just too many. Considering that a lot of Pokemon don't evolve at all, they'd be competitively crushed by the 4th evo Pokemon.

If the Mega Evolutions ended up being a permanent form like I originally thought, I guess I would've been alright with the possible 4th stage evolutions, as long as they stayed as similar looking as they already do. If we were to see 4th stage Pokemon going forward though, I think that'd be a little too much, and almost an admittance of failure on the Mega Evolution concept (which I don't think is the case at all).

There are still plenty of Pokemon left that haven't seen Mega Evolutions yet, so I'd much rather see them tackle those first before any fourth evolutions.

I have to agree with the others and consider the Mega Evolution as the 4th one. I think it would be too broad to have another evolution for most Pokemons. They can add Mega Evolutions if they want to but adding another evolution would be too much I think. Plus, it's what's we've grown up to.

Like Jamais, there's a lot of Pokemons that are deserving to get a Mega Evolution. There's a lot of pretty sweet concepts out there too. (Go to work Nintendo!)

I believe Mega Evolutions are the fourth form. Game Freak wanted fourth forms but couldn't figure out how to introduce them, then they came up with Mega Evolutions!!

I would support Mega Evolutions becoming permanent in future games. They fix Pokémon that were useless before or correct stats to make them how they were meant to be. Kangaskhan is garbage, now though it's useful (albeit a tad overpowered). Charizard Y is the Pokémon Charizard was always meant to be. Mewtwo Y has the stats to make it more competitive with newer Legendary.

All in all, I would love to see Mega Evolution become a permanent change but that's the only idea I would support for a fourth form.

I consider Mega-Evos to be the 4th evolution as well. I think it was smart by GF to introduce the concept of Mega-Evos, because if they introduced them as regular new evolutions they would 1) be too overpowered compared to other Pokemon and 2) They could hold an item to make them even more dangerous. Also, if they were regular evos you could make a whole team out of them, which would be crazy. So, all in all, good move by GF

    Fourth Evolution Stage

(does this thread qualify in Gaming Central?)

We've all seen three stages of evolution, yes. Many of them are the strongest Pokémon in the game, yes. But we all must have felt that after Lv. 50 or so the only thing about training your Pokémon is to make them stronger. By Lv. 70 most Pokémon would have completed their movesets (or learnt all desirable moves) so it's just for the stat increase. This may all change with a fourth evolution stage. Sure, the stat boost will make them horribly overpowered, but legendary Pokémon have been doing that for quite some time. Besides, the Mega-Evolution concept had a good reception, but I just wanted to know what everyone feels about the idea.

Mega-Evolution is the forth evolution !
But there might be a fifth evolution call ultimate-Evolution cause by a ring-stone originate from a Meteorite that fall on earth during ancient time.

With the introduction of Mega Evolutions, I don't think there will be much of an opportunity for fourth evolution to come by.

That's quite the stretch. I think Pokemon are already strong enough with evolving at least twice; Mega Evolutions cover the need for an extra one indefinitely. Instead of a 4th evolution, they could just expand on the Mega Evolution concept.
