I'm having a little trouble...

This is my first time with anything like this, so I followed the walkthroughs, set up mIRC, connected, etc etc...

And now I'm apparently in #free_pokemon, but all it says on the chat screen is "* Now talking in #free_pokemon" and nothing else. On all the walkthroughs I've read it shows screenshots of a lot more text on the screen when you first sign up.

Also I've tried typing !list but it's not doing anything, just showing that I typed !list in the chatroom. >>;;

Could this just be because I'm the only person in the chat?

I'm having trouble connecting. Using Trillian. I put in the server address and #Free_pokemon and it doesn't connect.

i stopped using trillian and started using mirc.

Now I've been using irssi all the time. It's been fast, simple, and good to use =)

I don't understand how i'm supposed to download, I typed

get movies\[M07]Pokemon_Destiny Deoxys[f0c4eadf][KMS].avi

and have tried lots of different things, but nothing happens

BTW I'm new to this

Fixed the problem, but now when does it start downloading?

It keeps saying that I need a registered nick in order to connect to the channel #free_pokemon. O_O

Although, I don't understand why it's saying that......

I mean, my nickname with Mirc is PokemonTrainerLisa.

And also, I connected to the channel #pocketmonsters without a problem.

So, I really don't know what's going on with this thing.

Ok, basically I'll summarize the meaning of this error. When channel mode +R = Only registered (+r) users may join the channel [o]; is set, you have to have a +r usermode to join. This is mainly used to deter spammers/bots and the likes. Your nickname has to be registered under nickserv and also has to be identified to via the identify command. Look at the information obtained below from NickServ, for full documentation.

-NickServ- Syntax: REGISTER password
-NickServ-
-NickServ- Registers your nickname in the NickServ database. Once
-NickServ- your nick is registered, you can use the SET and ACCESS
-NickServ- commands to configure your nick's settings as you like
-NickServ- them. Make sure you remember the password you use when
-NickServ- registering - you'll need it to make changes to your nick
-NickServ- later. (Note that case matters! ANOPE, Anope, and
-NickServ- anope are all different passwords!)
-NickServ-
-NickServ- Guidelines on choosing passwords:
-NickServ-
-NickServ- Passwords should not be easily guessable. For example,
-NickServ- using your real name as a password is a bad idea. Using
-NickServ- your nickname as a password is a much worse idea ;) and,
-NickServ- in fact, NickServ will not allow it. Also, short
-NickServ- passwords are vulnerable to trial-and-error searches, so
-NickServ- you should choose a password at least 5 characters long.
-NickServ- Finally, the space character cannot be used in passwords.
-NickServ-
-NickServ- The parameter email is optional and will set the email
-NickServ- for your nick immediately. However, it may be required
-NickServ- on certain networks.
-NickServ- Your privacy is respected; this e-mail won't be given to
-NickServ- any third-party person.
-NickServ-
-NickServ- This command also creates a new group for your nickname,
-NickServ- that will allow you to register other nicks later sharing
-NickServ- the same configuration, the same set of memos and the
-NickServ- same channel privileges. For more information on this
-NickServ- feature, type /msg NickServ HELP GROUP.

-NickServ- Syntax: IDENTIFY password
-NickServ-
-NickServ- Tells NickServ that you are really the owner of this
-NickServ- nick. Many commands require you to authenticate yourself
-NickServ- with this command before you use them. The password
-NickServ- should be the same one you sent with the REGISTER
-NickServ- command.

The following commands were used to obtain the above information.

/msg nickserv help register
/msg nickserv help identify
/helpop chmodes
/helpop umodes

R = Only registered (+r) users may join the channel [o] (Channel Mode)
r = Identifies the nick as being Registered (settable by services only) (UserMode)

If your having any other troubles, feel free to ask anything in here or feel free to join the #help channel on the Dejatoons network to talk to expierenced users that can also help you in any future trouble.

Haha, can someone answer this for me?

- I managed to get a queue but theres like 20 more queues ahead of mine and the downloads take hours each to complete. My DCC sessions keeping doing some Auto Kick Off thing. I dont know what to do to stop this because it seems the only way to download one episode would be to have my computer on all day with the DCC open all day. How can I make sure that it wont just kick me off?

Some servers have it enabled to where it will delete queues of users that aren't present on the channel and/or online. Yes, if your in a queue of twenty, you will have to wait until your queue meets the top. In some cases, it will be deleted if you part the channel, etc. The only real ways around this is through priority; as in some fservers automatically prioritize voiced/oped users; so, if you ran an fserver yourself, you could possibely get priority over the other users if the voice priority option is enabled. The only other way is to politely request to be moved up; but I probably would suggest that as you'll probably be ignored/banned.

the KMS server isnt up anymore. Im trying to get into DarkGengar|Server or whatever but its talking about some firewall, in which case ive changed multiple times to fix it but it doesnt do anything. I need help please, thanks.

/server irc.dejatoons.net -j #pocketmonsters

(They are basically the same channel, but #PM has more people)
