    Frozocrone's Moonlight Walk
Shall we take a journey together?
So a while back I bought Pok?mon Sun and thoroughly loved the game and already has the most amount of playtime hours than any of my other games. Not really wanting to start over just yet, I decided to buy Pok?mon Moon. Having said that, I wanted to give myself a bit of a challenge this time round as last time I had the XP share on and used Refresh. In addition to that, I wanted the AI to give me a challenge, so I elected to include a few more rules.

For now, these are the current rules, having not really started the game:
    Spoiler:

We'll see how rigidly I stick to these rules, but I intend to stick to at least 75% of these. If you've got any other suggestions, feel free to leave them in comments. I'll be sure to update the list if I like a rule. This thread is simply so I've got reason to stick to these rules (I've now made a commitment clicking that button).

Hopefully we can all have a fun time watching me struggle through a children's video game. Next post will certainly be the beginning as well as my choice for a starter Pok?mon.

Part 01 - Arriving in Alola
After confirming that yes, I did indeed speak English, I started casually neglecting my mum's request to pack my belongings and continue browsing YouTube for the latest cat videos. Suddenly a message appeared from Alola's very own Kukui, although like me, his preparedness was not on point at all. Also, why is he sending this in the evening? Morning would surely be better for conversing in a social manner. He starts explaining that Alola is made up of reasons and for this reason and this reason alone, it's home to nothing but rare and cool Pokémon. To demonstate this, he casually releases this sort of creature that can only be described as neither of these things - then contradicts himself about rare Pokemon saying we can find them all over the place. After confining it to neglect for the next five minutes or so, he starts asking some personal questions and mysteriously wants my face. I give him a false name (Woody) and make a mental reminder to change my outfit when I arrive. He ends the call by comparing my name to a Thunderbolt and that he can't wait to see me. This sounds suspicious but my mum has already asked me to help move some boxes so I don't dwell on it.

Flying out to Alola was pretty uneventful. I remember falling to sleep on the plane almost immediately after it took off, waking up only to get to the house and then consequently go straight to my new bedroom to sleep through the day. As bland as it possibly could be. Also why are we located away from the city and not in it? Why must I walk there? These questions take a backseat in my mind as my mum's Meowth wakes me up. I can't really hate the guy, he's just doing what his mother told me but dammit, let me sleep. I go to see my mother and she's enthusiastically asking if I'm looking forward to Alola. Truthfully I am...but I can't let her know this so I shrug and receive the forthcoming lecture on having a bit of wonder.

The doorbell rings and I go to answer it...not that I needed to as Professor Kukui invites himself in. Oh my...I thought it was just the evening wear settling down but no. This guy casually has his nipples out anywhere he goes. That's not going to get annoying or anything. Not to mention he practically ignores me after he sent the message and instantly starts to get on a first name basis with my mum. Jeez...and apparently my mother has a thing for him too, 'loving Alolan Pokémon' covering this up.

But suddenly I'm brought back into the conversation as Kukui tells me I'm getting a Pokémon. What?! Geez finally, took you long enough to gather my interest. Although not quite yet, I'm told to get my hat and bag to protect me from the sun...yes. Despite it being evening, I must be protected from the sun. My mum and Kukui make some more small talk before Kukui decides we're going to Iki Town. Alright I guess.

We start walking up what is apparantly Route 1 to head to this town. Along the way, Kukui stops to ask me some questions, of which I am not interested in, as well as talk to this kid, the first obstacle in my path to getting a Pokémon. He stops again to tell me something completely irrelevant as I don't have a Pokémon, and stops again to drive the point home further that without Pokémon, I am a waste of oxygen in Alola. Finally, we actually make it to Iki Town before the sun can actually rise.

Iki Town is nothing special, particulary when the Kahuna isn't around. I get told to look around for the kahuna...alright fair enough. But then, Kukui says something utterly stupid that I can't help but question how he got to be professor. The Island Kahuna...is meant to look like a kahuna. Kukui, just shut up. Besides, there is this girl who is currently more interesting since I actually know what a girl looks like.

I end up stalking her to the Mahalo Trail and she keeps talking to her bag. It's not too late for me to turn around is it? Well, I am curious to see why she's talking to her bag. Upon making the clearing, I clearly see some sort of gas cloud being attacked by Spearow on a bridge to some ruins. Good going Kukui, Spearow are in Kanto too you compulsive liar. The girl turns to face me and she looks desperate for help. I could just turn around, but I guess better save 'Nebby' because she clearly won't. So I, without any Pokémon, risk my life for this stupid gas cloud. Why is this bridge so rickety? God damn, and it breaks just as I get to 'Nebby' too. Although, I don't hit the ground, this other, much more capable being saves me before flying off. The girl is relieved to see 'Nebby' safe and gives me this rock that the aforementioned being finds. Wait...is she testing me and is the Kahuna? Turns out, no, she was utterly helpless. Well, she did give me this rock so there's that I guess. The gas cloud goes back into the bag and by virtuing of her asking and me being too weak to say no, we end up walking to Iki Town together.

Kukui greets us upon us entering Iki Town and I learn that the girl's name is Lillie. But finally, the Kahuna is back to give me my first Pokémon! The situation is quickly explained to him (finally, people get to the point), although I did learn that Tapu Koko saved my butt from before. Enough of that though, the Kahuna (called Hala) brings out three Pokémon, the Grass type called Rowlet, the Fire type called Litten and this utter abomination called Popplio. Apparently I get to choose one, so naturally I choose Rowlet! Wait...Rowlet has to choose me too? Piece of cake, I'm pretty likable. Here comes the smoulder.

But Rowlet shakes his head and I begin to fear the worst - I'll be forced into choosing Popplio. I frantically start patting my pockets trying to find something to entice Rowlet with...but suddenly he comes flying over! Has he chosen me? A wave of relief comes over me as Hala confirms Rowlet has chosen me too! I decide to call it Arrowl because of it's last form. Lillie starts to say I've chosen a great partner which makes me like her more. Just a tad mind. Kukui ends up giving me a weird looking Pokédex and a Trainer Passport. Guess you're useful for something after all Kukui. He says that I should see my mum and show her Arrowl. Eh, I guess, but not right now.

    To be continued...

    Pokémon Team
    Arrowl the Rowlet, Level 5

I'm not a huge fan of nicknames for Pokémon but for a narrative journal, I figured I might as well. Don't expect any good nicknames though, a lot of them will be taken from other interests of mine. Arrowl comes from CW's Arrow which I'm currently watching. I'm pretty big on DC so all my nicknames might be superhero based.

Anyway, that's it for a first entry. Let me know what you think. I intend to get further than I originally planned but trading on my Sun copy took longer than anticipated. I'll try and keep it shorter too, although granted a lot of this was tutorial based. Sigh...walls of text are fun to read.

    Frozocrone's Moonlight Walk
Part 02 - Actually completing the introduction
First off, I would like to apologise for not updating this as much. I've got exams on soon and the holidays also cut into what would have been play time. Apparently I'm supposed to spend Christmas with my family as opposed to my DS. Anyway, sorry. I'm also going to rename my Rowlet into Rowlet and have no nickname, I just can't be bothered with nicknames.

So, after getting some time to actually play Moon, I picked up right where I was and started to head home. Before I could even make it past the stairs of Iki Town, some kid comes up and challenges me to a battle. Luckily, Hala and co, for some reason or another, follow me and practically force the kid to reveal his name; Hau. Hau proceeds to bombard me with information that I already knew, like Rowlet looking really cool. I don't even try to put a coherent response together because he's already asking me for a battle. Whatever, I'll cream this punk. Everyone else is just fine watching me punk this dude, who actually chose that god awful Popplio - and Rowlet knows a Grass move! Oh yeah, this is too easy.

After I beat up Hau for almost wasting my time and take his money, he finds out my name. Great; another adoring fan. Hala straight up asks me for the rock I picked up earlier and the plot compels me to hand it over, being too weak to say no. Thankfully he says he'll return it, I was beginning to get attached to it. Oh god why. Kukui ends up being my personal chauffer/wingman, taking me and Lillie home. Nebby finds itself outside of the bag, not really caring about Lillie. I like Nebby. Not enough to laugh with the rest of the group though, an endless smile will do. After being dropped off, I show mum my Rowlet and she thinks it's cool and cute...kinda think she would have agreed with whatever I said really. At least Meowth is taking an interest in Rowlet.

The next day and the doorbell goes and once again, it's Kukui the perpetual trespasser. I'm meant to come with him though and be in close proximity of those nipples again. Sure...just make it quick, yo. Mum says she'll unpack the rest of my stuff while I'm gone. I'm sure that's a lie.

So, I end up meeting Kukui outside and he starts throwing moves my way. Not the dance sort...actually incorporating them into sentences...like what. Is it too late to go back to Kanto? Anyway, I meet him at Route 1 and he shows me how to catch a Pokemon. Alright. He then gives me some Pokeballs and Potions. Alright. He then finally leaves. Alright! I end up catching a Pikipek and Yungoos just to get some friends for Rowlet, because I'm certainly not going to be it's friend.

I venture onwards to Iki Town, demolishing the little kids en route with their sub par Pokemon. The festival...is actually not too bad. Hala gives me a history lecture on why this festival occurs. I meet up with Hau who is itching for a battle. Hala heals my Pokemon
for me which is great since I decided to venture on like a fool without going back home to heal up. He leads with Pichu this time, no biggie I deal with it, as well as the Popplio is still has (just release it already). Even with the parahax, Rowlet is boss. After beating Hau, his granddad gives me a Z-Ring. Apparently it can make Pokemon stronger. Kukui tells me it's time to start my own Island Challenge and become the Island Challenge Champion. After the festival dies down, Lillie starts talking about Tapu Koko...to be honest I should thank it for saving my life. I arrive home and mum appears to be talking to herself. Probably wasn't expecting me. I head to bed and sleep.

The next day arrives and the doorbell goes. I wait around ten minutes before realizing this person actually adheres to social norms. As I leave, Lillie is waiting for me. She says that Kukui wanted to see me. Can't say I'm opposed to cute girls knocking on my door, even if it's to see old professors. Mum leaves the house just in time to see Lillie and give me some money. After a bit of teasing, we head to Kukui's. Lillie seems to want to keep Cosmog a secret, but divulges almost everything to me...like which is it girl? I catch a Wingull, Slowpoke and Rattata along the way too.

After reaching Kukui's, he's apparently having a good time with Rockruff. Maybe best if we come back later. Anyway, he finishes up as we enter. My reward for enduring these disturbing turn of events is a Pokedex. I also get a Rotom, but annoyingly it finds the Pokedex more interesting than a Pokeball. Hau also enters Kukui's and immediately invades Lillie's room...or attempts to, with Lillie blocking him before he can enter. Kukui also tells me more about the island challenge. I also get an island emblem. Kukui then sends me to school to learn more about battling, despite crushing Hau twice. I think with that, we'll call it a day (or night, technically).

    Frozocrone's Moonlight Walk
Part 03 - The Important Building Appreciation Society
Turns out I had more time than expected so I'm just going to go right ahead in the new year and finish up a part three of my playthrough. I'm hoping to have it all done by March because writing like this is quite a pain. Might do brief updates in the future, not sure yet. Short update, although I might edit/make a fourth later today.

Anyway, I leave Kukui's residence and head to Hau'oli which I've been unable to access for plot reasons, despite it being literally ten seconds from my house. Anyway, Lillie invites me into the Pokemon Centre and shows me the various services, from the nurse offering to heal my Pokemon, the PC allowing me to deposit Pokemon and never see them again, the Poke Mart to buy all sorts of illegal stuff and the Cafe to buy all sorts of beverages that just so happen to be suitable for a 7+ rating. Lillie sure is helpful, can't fault her there. She invites me to the Trainer's School once I've finished up in the Pokemon Centre. I heal up, get a cool Munchlax with Snorlium-Z and head to where Lillie is.

Sure enough I find her, although she's startled by the Tauros. I instantly start to warm up to her as she says we'll leave it to someone else. I like a girl that turns a blind eye to trouble. Upon entering, I find that Kukui has teleported to the school, as well as this cutie who I assume must be the teacher. Kukui tells me I have to beat four trainers. Alright easy enough. I first come across Youngster Joey and seeing him bring out a Metapod makes me shudder, as if there is a disturbance in the universe. It throws me off so much I don't remember what the other three trainers were called. I decide to give Munchlax it's first battle and it doesn't let me down, by using Spark, Spirit Shackle, Shadow Punch and Psycho Boost via Metronome spam. I also catch a Magnemite, Meowth and Grimer in the area. I lucked out on Magnemite as it was carrying a Metal Coat - might make an evolution easier down the line.

The bell rings and I'm summoned to the headmasters office. Lillie takes a cheap shot at me...or is flirting with me. Either way, I flat out ignore her, sans for healing up and head to detention. Turns out I have to battle and beat teacher. I make short work after Metronome pulls some ace moves out the bag. Get some Great Balls after beating her, not too shabby. Kukui and another person, who turns out to be Ilima the captain. He invites me to challenge his trial before leaving. I can do that. The school sees me off and Lillie decides to accompany me by showing me more of the city. She starts fawning over me so much that she forgets about Hau and Hala raving at the Tauros blocking our path. Bless her. Wait...am I starting to like this girl? I mean useless girl. Hala takes said Tauros away and Hau third wheels us, running off to get food.

Hau-'oli city...is stunning by night. Oh no...I'm becoming impressed with the region! I need muh beloved Kanto! Anyway, Hau runs at me and decides that we should get a camera called a PokeFinder. Eh, why not. It's free after all. I go outside and catch a Pichu before meeting Lillie and Hau. Rotom decides it should get a photo of us. I guess I'll keep it. Hau runs off, no doubt to find Malasadas. Lillie goes a different shop, while a strange man tells me more off the Pokefinder. I follow Lillie and she gives me the Lens case, pretty sweet of her...although her mother dresses her, that's weird. Also Team Skull seem to be loitering about. I guess we'll end this entry here while I get v3 on my PokeFinder and a change of clothes.

I've not forgotten about this for any of you that were following this journal.

But I need to say three things:

    1) I'm currently doing exams and as fun as Pokemon is, they come first. So main story won't be happening for a while.
    2) I did a complete gender bend and restarted as a girl named Chitoge, just to see what dialogue would change since I beat Sun as a male. The team will be updated accordingly but I more or less went and caught everything available to me aside maybe a few. Still started with Rowlet for those wondering and have progressed up to the same point in the story.
    3) I've been on Festival Plaza a fair bit just trying to grind it up to match Sun.

My exams finish soon though so expect a pretty hefty update then.
