Trust me, David Moo did NOT ever fit Sanji. In fact, if you were to give Joey Wheeler (4Kids YGO) a bottle of helium, then kick him in the crotch a few times, they'd sound rather similar. Sanji has to sound at least somewhat debonair, which is kind of hard to do when you can't even enunciate the letter "r".

e-hem, anyways~ I suppose you're right, in a sense! I just got used to him so much, so his voice, to me, just fit his personality.

Anyways, I'm back because I had a question about Sanji!
heh, now that 4kids doesn't have him anymore, and ya know, they gave him a lollipop instead of a ciggarette (sp?)... will he STILL have a sucker, or a smoke?
On the last episode, he didn't have one at all, which I found so odd, so I was just curious.

Meh. I kind of think the brokeyn accent fit him nicely. I mean Sanji is a lady chaser in nature (Dub and oringal) and 4Kids have always use the voices to give a bit more of a kick in their dubbing so they could have gone with a french accent or something else. I have to say that the brokeyn accent was kind of funny and romantic when you added it to Sanji. The brokeyn accent gave him that lover-boy feeling to your ears but also made him sound cool since that is something you don't hear so often. Still that is what I think.

I think by judging from his episode that Funimation decided to just edit out the ciggarette which is kind of strange since I heard back when Funimation first got the rights that they will keep the lollipop which I was ok with since I did like the lollipop that Sanji had in the dub. The lollipop was just something that I enjoy since that too just made Sanji stand out more and just made him an intresting character. I mean in the end the lollipop/cigarette does nothing but still it just part of his image and I was kind of disappointed they just decided to cut it out completely. I would love to see that lollipop since there are times when Sanji does referre to the cigarette since he does light it after battles and in some episodes. I wonder what they will do about that. Cut it out or just make Sanji do the movement of lighting the cigarette without a cigarette? haha

Me neither i used to be a megs fan, as long as they have chopper in im cool.
 
I think there is a very good chance that One Piece could experience something similar to DBZ, but then, there's no guarantee. But i any case, I wouldn't worry about the dubbies who are not used to the new voices, they will come around. And the ones that don't weren't really One Piece fans to begin with.
 
I love One Piece!! I've been collecting the Manga since its release stateside, and have lately seen many of the subbed episodes!!

But to get on topic:
Since I could only watch One Piece as the 4Kids Dub before, I really didn't complain (even though they took out alot of the show's atmosphere). But with the new Funimation Version, I love it even more!! Though it will take a few episodes to get used to the new voices (as it was said before, it was 100+ episodes of those voices; but I'll get used to them, just like I did with Pokemon's new Voice Actors). Also, in the first episode (of Funimation's Version), I immediately recognized Usopp's (Krillin), Zoro's (Piccolo), and Sanji's (Future Trunks) voices!! *(I am a SUPER Dragon Ball Z fan!!)* I really enjoyed their version, and will continue to love it for the new episodes to come!! Also, I plan to get their Uncut Boxed Sets next year!!

And I too like your Theme, charizard_maa!!
 
Yay, and last Saturday's episode was great as always. I really love Buggy's and Ace/Trace's voices. Those were great. Man Luffy and Usopp were so funny in that episode. Did anyone noticed that they showed the eyecatches? Anyway, I love this anime now and I am I going to watch it every single night. ^^
 
Did anyone notice how the little guy on buggy's crew is now black?
They snuck that little return to the original show.
 
Yep I sure did! I was like yes Funimation you are in the right direction.

Did anyone catch last Saturday's episode. I thought Bellamy sounded great! And Luffy, wow. It was totally great! Too bad they didn't show the preview, since CN ran out of time.

What are your thoughts guys? ^^
 
I thought that went pretty well! To tell you the truth, I had no idea they had new voice actors lol.

But Sanji's voice is waaaaaaaaay better than the last time I heard it. It was too scratchy when I last heard his voice. ><

The theme songs were really good too! And that's cool how they translated it! =D
 
I have to say that I've never been real big on One Piece..
Although I did remember hearing that FUNimation got it, I hadn't ever watched it until a few days ago.

& I have to say..
I may actually start to watch the dub now.

I l o v e Sanji's voice.
It sounds so cool now. <3

And Luffy's is less painful on the ears.

&& To make things better Luci Christian does some voices in it, and
freaking Vic Mignogna sings the theme song. -squee- x3
 
It is getting better I have to say. I mean I didn't even have a slight problem with the same VA of Piccolo doing Zolo. I mean it was there then the feeling has passed so it is getting better. My mind is beginning to settle on the VAs. Still I can't really get use to Sanji's voice. It just sounds kind of plain compare to his old one (the 4Kids one) and meh. Just kind of feelingless. Still it looks like the VAs are settling in.

I just want a fight scene to see how the VAs sounds like in fighting.

For who ever who cares, I do have on more Strawhat Crew member to do for a theme.
 
I didn't like Nami's voice. I LOVE the voice actor, but not for her >>

You can barely tell that's Colleen Clinkenbeard playing Luffy, and Christopher Sabot did a great job on Zolo.

I haven't gotten the chance to hear Usopp or Sanji, which sucks because two of my favorite VA's play them >> (Sonny Straight and Eric Vale) Yay VA addiction~
 
About time this got started again. One of my favourite animes. Haven't seen the new episodes. I have to say it is best 4kids one I have seen. Can't wait to see the new episodes.
 
Yeah FUNimation's dub beats 4kids dub any day, Did anyone noticed that Vic Mignogna (Edward Elric's Dub voice) sang a basically dubbed word-for-word version of Hikari E, in his Edward Elric voice?

I noticed once I heard it. I'm a frickin Vic Mignogna fanatic.

He sings a lot on anime theme songs, he sang an english version of White Light, True Light for D.N.Angel, and he re sang Brothers from FMA. FUNimation didn't rush when they did this, I'm telling you, they did a good job with it.
 
Yep. I'm going to start watching One Piece again, cause anything after DB/Z/GT FUNimation has worked on has been great. I couldn't tell but did FUNimation go edit crazy like 4kids or did they make minor ones? Cause I never got to see this episode (144) in Japanese.

I'm not saying the DB dubs suck it's just they changed to many names and gave it crappy music, I only like 1 theme in the English Dubs of DBZ.

Since FUNimation picked up One Piece it makes me wonder if they'll dub the DBZ/One Piece crossovers, since they own the rights to both shows here in the U.S.
 
Yeah. I was wondering if Funimation did any paint edits in the last episode. Like during the scene at the resort I notice a sign but it had english text on it. I remember seeing that episode in japanese but I am not sure if the sign ws originally in Japanese. Still it makes no difference since One Piece doesn't have many words in it. Still if there was a paint edit then I would like to know.

Funimation has all episodes, movies and speacials after episode 144 until 2009. After 2009 Funimation can dig into everything before episode 144.

no paint edits in the last episod resort english text is pub and pies in Japanese
