Funny/Weird things about Pokemon you used to believe...

    Well, I checked to see if there was a thread about this subject, and there's not, so I'll make it.

    Everyone who has grown up playing Pokemon probably knows what I'm talking about. We have the various fake cheats, weird superstitions, and strange techniques that we all used. Share with us what "tips" you used when you were younger, that some people might consider "odd".

    For me, one of my habits was about egg hatching. I thought that if you placed the egg between two Pokemon in your party (preferably a male a female, especially if they were the parents), it would keep the egg warm and make it hatch faster. So whenever I got an egg, I would keep it near the middle, because then there were more Pokemon around it to keep the egg warm. XD

    Also, in G/S/C, I always told the police that my rival's name was "???", because I was afraid that if you named him anything else, that you'd be arrested.
    After you beat the Pokemon League and stepped outside your house, a voice would say, "There they are!" Then the police would come after you and say, "You gave misinformation to the police concerning a theft! We're hauling you to prison!" Screen blacks out with a "GAME OVER".
    I have no idea why I thought that, but I was still scared enough to name him "???" every time I played.

    So, what are your stories?
     
    Probably something we all do, but I always use to think if you rapidly hit the A button fast enough, it would help catch Pokemon. Before that, I read somewhere that if you held B right after you threw a Poke Ball, it would ensure you caught a Pokemon 100% of the time. That was back in the days of Red/Blue/Yellow.
     
    I used to think that there was only one type of Poke'mon for every species XD (Like there is only one Pikachu in the entire world XD)
     
    I used to believe that holding "Down" arrow while pressing "A" button a bunch of times made the Pokémon easier to catch. Also believed that pressing "A" repeatedly while attacking made the attack do more damage while holding "B" as another Pokémon attacked you, made it do less damage.

    I still do all three of those despite the fact they don't work.

    I also used to think that Missing No. was literally a gigantic tower made out of dead/bleeding or decaying Pokémon and their severed limbs which is how my brother explained it to me when he encountered one on his game.

    your DIGITAL, MAKE BELIEVE, GAME, pokemon actually have feelings (other than the friendship stuff, etc).

    and yes, from time to time i still use the A/B holding method while trying to catch pokemon...dont we all xD
     
    Well i used to think that rapidly pressing Left-Right would catch the pokemon and apparently it works for me so i still do it XDD
     
    I still press the (A)-Button all the time when i try to catch a Pokémon, and i actually start pressing the (A) button every time i get stressed/annoyed/bored, like when Cynthia speaks for ten years every time you beat the E4 -.-

    I actually believed that you could train easier if you played the girl, and i still for some reason pick the girl every time i start a new Pokémon game :/
     
    I thought, in addition to all the catching tricks, that breeding a plusle and a minun gave you a "minusle." I learned after hours of minun eggs that it wouldn't work.
     
    I'm guilty of repeatedly pressing the B button thinking it would help me catch a Pokemon.

    Aaaand that my G/S/C would never stop working. Dx I was wrong.

    Similar to that, I always tap the "A" button continually in battle.
    It's not due to a particular belief but only due to a simple habit.
     
    When I used to play with my Gold Version, I thought that if I put a Nidoran(male) and a Nidoran(Female), the egg would hatch into an ultra rare pokemon... I tried it but they didn't like each other!
     
    1.I used to think my Swampert was a boy, but then after I breed it, I found out it was a girl!(And then I started searching to see if there was a Emerald cheat or glitch that allowed your pokemon to change genders.Because I was SURE it was a boy before!)

    2. A+B=better catch.Most of the time it worked and I STILL do it.

    3.That in Emerald you could get MewTwo by: Defeating the League 150 times,Having a Pichu in your party, and on Christmas, you go to this Chese lady, she will ask if you like chese, say NO and she will take your Pichu. Go after her into the portal she created which leads to Hell. The devil will than ask you to go into a piece of chese to stop this probelm thingy.Inside is MewTwo. <Yeah, I actuly used to believe that. lol

    Well... back when there was only 151 pokémon, and the Johto ones had only just come out, I used to believe they were fake XD That there was and would only be 151 pokémon, that number was special in some way. So when my friend showed me TGcards of Pichu and showed me his Steelix on his Silver game, I was quite shocked XDD
     
    Haha, lol. I'll share one of my personal ideas.

    I thougt that if you chose the girl in Crystal, you would only encounter female Pokémon (and vice versa with the boy, of course).
     
    I thought that:

    Starting with a female character would give you a female starter.
    Shouting for your Pokemon to wake up would work (back in the second generation).
    Beating the champion would actually make YOU the champion.
     
    Still believe:

    The whole pressing A business. Also that when you press A repeatedly that the text goes faster.


    Used to believe:

    When Ruby and Sapphire came out I always thought that Plusle and Minun evolved into Latios and Latias because of their similar color scheme.
     
    Ohyeahh. I remember when I was around 5 or 6, and I was playing Gold, I thought the rival was a girl for some reason. ._.

    Ok...First of all...WTF, Second-go into a piece of cheese...Thats pretty messed up...yet funny.
