Got beat up by some red headed kid outside of the lab. >=(
Chose my starter (Chikorita)
Made my way to Cherrygrove City
Got my Map Card from that Guide Gent guy

Fought my rival (Named him Cody)
Returned to Professor Elm in shock
Set off on my journey to get badges!

Now onward to Violet City!

- Restarted from the battle before, so not too large of a set back
- Beat the female executive

- FINALLY got sludge bomb
-tried the battle tower
-got terribly defeated by a steelix
-decided to train everyone to 40 for chuck, and I should be able to coast on from there without any training sprees...until blackthorn mabye

Have you tried using save states on VBA? I usually set a save state before picking a Pokemon I want, so that I can keep hitting F1 (or whatever number the save state is) to reload the state over and over if needed. I also occasionally make them as backups in case my main save file happens to fail.

~August 6th, 2009~

-Fought all the trainers in the Goldenrod City Gym
-Went to level grind a bit before taking on Whitney
-Got bored with battling wild Pokemon, and went to face Whitney
-Only had to use Quilava, and beat her Miltank by the skin of my teeth. It took me two Super Potions and a lot of spamming of the Smokescreen variety. I had Flaaffy and Furret as backups, but they were both susceptible to being Attracted, so I hoped I wouldn't have to use them. Oh, and this couldn't have come at a better time:

-Received the Plain Badge and TM45, Attract!
-Went to get the Squirt Bottle from that lady at the flower shop
-Stopped at Goldenrod's north gate and received an HP Up from that guard for delivering his mail
-Fought the Sudowoodo on Route 36 and caught it just for fun
-Promptly deposited it in the PC in Goldenrod City
-Headed back out to Route 36, received TM08, Rock Smash (yay) from that guy near the Ruins of Alph entrance
-Received a Hard Stone from Arthur (the Thursday dude) on Route 36
-Fought all the trainers on Route 37
-Arrived in Ecruteak City; healed up and went to the Dance Theater
-Swept the floor with the Kimono Girls; received HM03, Surf, as my awesome prize
-Went to the Burned Tower
-Met up with Kamon; steamrolled his Croconaw, Haunter, Magnemite and Zubat
-Saved the game at the Burned Tower

(Also, I forgot to include my second battle with Kamon in my August 4th update. As usual, I steamrolled his entire team in that battle.)

Bellsprout - Cut/Flash

I'm kind of half-tempted to teach Furret Surf. He can learn the move, and it would finally allow my team to tackle its blaring weakness to Rock/Ground Pokemon. The thing is… Furret's Sp. Attack is his worst stat. XD
Also, I'm planning on teaching Quilava Attract. I did that in another file, and I found it to be a great move. However, I'm not making the mistake of teaching her Rollout again. That move is good early on, but I find it becomes a nuisance later in the game.

Hey, I've started playing, and here are my updates!

1. Started a new game, named my character Ultima.
2. Got the PokeGear.
3. Headed to Prof. Elm's Lab and chose my starter, Cyndaquil then nicknamed him UltimaZlfr.
4. Headed to Cherrygrove City, then talked to the old man.
5. Got the Map Card.
6. Headed to Mr. Pokemon's House
7. Got the Pokemon Egg, then got the Pokedex.
8. Headed to Cherrygrove and saved infront of the Pokemon Center.

Just a short update for now, but I'll probably be playing again tonight.

~August 7th, 2009~

-Taught Attract to Quilava
-Taught Surf to Furret
-Went to the Ecruteak City Gym and fought all of Morty's underlings
-Before taking on Morty, went to train a bit by fighting the trainers on Route 38
-Returned to the Gym and fought Morty
-Defeated him in an epic battle. I led off with Quilava, who easily took down Gastly and Haunter, but I switched out to Flaaffy after defeating Haunter, since Quilava had been hit with Curse and I didn't want to keep her in battle too long. Flaaffy managed to paralyze Gengar, but was, unfortunately, sent to dreamland with Hypnosis and sapped of all his HP through Dream Eater before waking up. xD Quilava was sent back in, and she quickly rendered Gengar the next best thing to useless, stacking an Attracted status right on top of his paralysis. Needless to say, Gengar didn't land a single attack after that, and he was taken down in a few turns. I sent Furret out to deal with Morty's other Haunter, and a few Surfs later, the battle was done and over.
-Received the Fog Badge and TM30, Shadow Ball!
-Saved the game at Ecruteak Gym

Man, its hard training Pokemon!

- Re-continued my game and battled my rival.
- Wiped out his Totodile in a matter of seconds!
- Headed to New Bark town, and you know the rest.
- Headed to Route 2, captured 2 Bellsprouts, then headed to Violet City.
- Traded my Bellsprout, for an Onix. (My team is complete)
- Went to the Sprout Tower, then in there battled all the trainers until all my Pokemon sere level 10.
- Battled the Elder, then obtained the Flash HM.
- Went to the gym and battled Falkner.
- Wiped out his ass.
- Got the Zephyrbadge then TM 22 = Mud Slap, then taught it to Onix.
- Saved in front of the gym.

- Healed and went to the SPROUT TOWER.
- Beat the ELDER and obtained FLASH.

@.hack: I'm curious of the levels of your pokemon because you said you weren't ready for Red. I destroyed him with a level 76 Feraligatr and a Level 38 Crobat.

Some basic tips:

Spoiler:

Just bring some Full Restores and Revives. When your main pokemon faints, switch out to a lower level pokemon, in my case it was Crobat, then use the revive on the higher level pokemon, in my case it was Feraligatr, and if your lower leveled pokemon doesn't faint, you may also use a Full Restore on your main pokemon. If your pokemon does faint, you will more than likely get the first turn on the pokemon you send out next.
