Here's my plan. Feel free to discuss it and suggest amendments.

The event will last the whole 4 days of the Get-Together, and will be a single thread in which everyone posts their concepts. People can post whatever concepts they like and however many they like (one per post); however, there should be no other chatter such as commenting on others' ideas or saying "I'll make a post soon".

At the end of the event, the thread is closed and the judges choose the best concepts. There will be one overall winner and 2 or 3 runners-up (number to be decided). There will be three emblems awarded: one for the winner, one for the runners-up, and one for every other entrant.

    The three judges are:
The judging criteria are subjective, and basically amounts to "whatever you like". Personally, I'll look favourably at concepts with lots of description, a clear indication of what it'll be like to play the game (it's a game concept after all, not a story concept), and originality (a generic "like the official games but with all regions!" is not original). Images (or other media, or lack thereof) won't be a big part in my decision. You're welcome to have your own standards, of course - you can discuss them in this thread.

Nominating the finalists and deciding on the overall winner can be done in this thread once the event is over. You can of course chatter in this thread during the event as well.

A judge may enter the event themselves, I suppose, but they can't vote for themselves (not even if their concept is really good!).

    To do:
    1. Make emblems. I'm bad at graphics, but at least the names and descriptions can be fairly generic.
    2. Design the thread layout. Perhaps use some CSS, but it doesn't need to be fancy really.

    Whoops, sorry 'bout that. :3c

Anyways, I really think your criteria is good for judging! I really think that descriptiveness and creativity should absolutely play a role in one's design, and the same for originality.

Maybe I can help out on the emblems, but if you guys have decided otherwise, then that's fine. ;)

By all means, have a go at making some emblems. Does everything else I said look okay? It's not the most complicated event in the world, sure, but I'm just wondering if I forgot anything or if there's an alternative way of doing something.

MagikarpIs$parta hasn't been on PC for a week now. If he doesn't post in here sharpish, he's off the list.

Oh, definitely optional. I've already said I (personally) won't really be caring about graphics, because being able to draw or splice an image together isn't really a part of thinking up an idea. Besides, any useful image (such as a mocked-up screenshot that illustrates part of the game, rather than some flashy pointless logo) would be very difficult to whip up in the short amount of time available.

They're nice, although they do imply coding was involved, which I'm sure won't be the case.

Using my elite Paint skills, I came up with this:

Perhaps variations on that kind of thing? It could be as simple as adding a large "Winner" or "Runner-up" or "Participant" to the bottom right corner (and not to mention improved graphics).

    ---------------------------------------------------------

In other news, MagikarpIs$parta has had his chance. He's off the judges list now, and should be removed from the Event Organisers group too (I hope someone who can do that is reading this!).

There's now a free spot for another judge. If a reader fancies it, please step up. There's not much to do - just read through a list of game ideas at the end of the event and pick your favourites.

I didn't actually say this before, but this event will have a Pokémon theme.

Given that, although I like the Tetris in the emblem I made, perhaps it should have Pokémon graphics instead? Perhaps a Gen 1 screenshot for the participants one, an FRLG screenshot for the runners-up, and maybe a Gen 6 one for the winner?

    They look good.

I had another go at them, using the idea of the player always being in the same position. The thought bubble was smoothed out a bit too to avoid pixels.

Now those I like! And I agree on the consistency of the same positions as well. So I guess those could be the final designs.

Whoever handed out that accolade needs to take it back.

I suppose it could be announced, yes. I mentioned it above, but no one here is interested. Am I the only person who looks in all these events threads?

This is just a rough layout (on my part) and nothing final.. if anyone could donate some CSS, your help would be appreciated!

    Game Concept Design

Welcome to the GT2013 Game Concept Design contest, hosted and judged by Maruno, [supporter]ZachLMedia[/supporter], and _________! Your goal is to design a Pokémon game concept with as many details as possible, and you can design however you want it. There will be emblems awarded for participation, runner-ups, and the winner.

    Guidelines

There aren't really any guidelines when it comes to designing your Pokémon game concept, except to just be creative with your designs! Images for your design are not mandatory, and you can post more than one Pokémon game concept design if you wish, but please keep it in a separate post if you do choose to have more than one submission. You will have until the end of the Get-together to have a design submitted in order to be eligible for judging.

    Reminders

    • You will have until the end of the Get-together to post your Pokémon game concept.
    • DO NOT comment on others' designs! Posts in this thread should only contain a design.
    • Be creative!

That's all I have so far, and if anything needs changing/adjustment I'll do so.

    Pokémon Game Design Contest

Welcome to the PokéCommunity Get-Together 2013, and welcome to the Pokémon Game Design Contest! This event is your chance to come up with a great idea for a new Pokémon game. There are no limitations on what kind of game you can dream up, so long as it involves Pokémon in some way.

This contest will last until midnight (GMT) at the end of Monday 8th July.

Hosted and judged by Maruno, ZachLMedia and Para-Dox.

    Rules and Guidelines
    • Game ideas go in this thread, and nowhere else. One idea per post. You can enter as many ideas as you want.
    • Be as descriptive as possible. This can include, but is not limited to, the following:
      • Name: (All games need a name!)
      • Platform: (Where you play the game, e.g. on a home console, on a hand-held console, on a PC, on a table...)
      • Genre: (Action-adventure, puzzle, MMORPG, whichever categories your game comes under)
      • Story and characters: (If your game has these, talk about them.)
      • Gameplay: (How the game is played, what modes of play there are, is there single-player and/or multiplayer and how they work, etc.)
    • Images are not required, but you can include some if you want to.
    • No bribing the judges with chocolate!

    Emblems
These are the emblems that are up for grabs:

    Good luck!

I'll see if I can improve the emblem graphics a bit more.
