Are you the type of person that will not trade in any Pokemon from other games until way later on in the game?

That's what I plan to do in HG/SS. I want to start fresh and level up all of my Pokemon, I don't want to end up trading in my level 100 Torterra to help me beat up everybody. XD I will only trade the event Pokemon right away, but the rest will come probably close to when I'm done with the main game.

    Hahahahahahaha...
    No.

I'm doing a variation of that. I'm breeding a team of competitive Pokémon at Lv. 1 and sending them over to HG when I get it. That way, I can technically start fresh while not starting fresh. I love loopholes like that :D

  • Yes I will be doing that and also mixing up my team instead of the same ole team I've used in GSC. It makes the game more interesting and new for me :)

I know what I want to use, but if something better/cooler comes along mid-game, I'd use that. So far this is my team:
    Gonna Start Fresh?

But quagsire or slowking may replace politoed, murkrow may replace umbreon, and heracross may replace scizor.

  • Yes and no... for my game I'm planning to trade over the Johto Starters in their shiny forms. I may do a few other runs of the game though with in-game monotype teams.

Well kinda,Im going to trade over a Hitokage egg early on because i dont like any of the Flying types so i can just evolve it to Lizardon later.I'm also trading over Ebiwalar because its epic and I dont really wanna wait till the near end of the game for a fighting type.

(For those who dont know the Jap. Translations Hitokage=Charmander Lizardon=Charzard and Ebiwalar=Hitmonchan. There a little Japenesse lesson for you all)

I wanna swap my starter for something else, although undecided as of now. Trade over an Egg to make life more interesting.
Might turn into a Monotype run.

  • I usually do, but not this time (I plan to use my Shiny Pichu and Shaymin in my team). However, I'm going to avoid sending over any other high level pokemon until after I beat Red, so I do have some restrictions. I started to breed a few other pokemon in preparation, but the breeding mechanics in HGSS are so much nicer that I'm just going to wait. Can't wait to breed a Morning Sun Arcanine! <3

Instead of catching new crummy Pokemon, which I do not really have the storage for, I will trade over a bred team from Platinum. They will have low levels, but may have an Ice Beam or two against Falkner, and whatnot.

  • Yep, starting fresh is my thing. No trading until post-game. For the main story, I will solely use the team listed in my signature.

That's what I always do. I never trade it Pokemon from other games even when I've beaten the one I'm playing. I just start all over again.

But it's not like my Pokemon are noteworthy enough to be traded. I can't be bothered to collect Pokemon, so I don't have shinies or events or any of that. And I don't do competitive play so that doesn't factor in either. Hooray for being lazy.

    Pokestick good times.

  • I'm (most probably) just gonna play through the game without restarting, trading, or even EV training, just like I always do. Things tend to be just a slight more funny that way :3

  • Yeah, I'll be starting fresh and not trading my other pokemon over until after I beat the game. Only thing I am doing is trading over a phanpy egg so I can have it on my team.
