hello! i am looking for a game on 3ds that has lots of collectibles / unlockables that will take me a long time to collect.

i went and bought super smash bros. 4 last night and already have half of the challenges completed and several unlockable characters. the trophies just seem like a matter of time rather than skill to collect, getting between 2 and 3 of them per run of all star mode, it will take less than 350 play throughs of all star mode to get them all, if thats all i did. the gameplay is also a bit monotonous, although i do find it better than most other fighting games, as you dont really have a set amount of health.

i would like some kind of RPG (action or turn based), with good replay value and lots of stuff to do even after you beat the game, and lots of things to collect.

If you want a good RPG with lots to do, my first recommendation would be Bravely Default. The graphics and music are both gorgeous, the difficulty can be adjusted to the player's liking and there's plenty to do. Also, obvious choice is obvious but Pokemon ORAS are also great games that can take a lot of time and have plenty to do after the E4, like the Delta Episode.

i have OR but i was considering buying AS as well, but im not sure if there's much point in owning both of them. same thing with x and y

are there things in bravely default that will take a long time or are challenging to obtain, for example, something similar to ultimate weapons in the final fantasy series? are there secret moves that require doing certain things to earn? i'm just wondering if after i beat the game will i get bored with it seeing as i have nothing to do or collect.

Inazuma Eleven. Lots to collect, lots to do- moreso in the later entries than in the original. It's great fun and, if you take advantage of things like competition routes and (in the GO games) collectible characters, moves, and items, it'll keep you busy for a long, long time.

The Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series is a game that has several endings and lots of replay value. The Persona series also has replay value and several endings...but not as much. They will consume your time, though, and Personas 2 - 4 are fantastic games.

And if you want a Strategy RPG that will absolutely eat up your time, Disgaea. 9999 level cap, TONS of postgame content (especially in 4, where the game starts once it ends), and a lot to do. Plus it's campy and meta as hell but manages to tell some darn good stories.

i was kinda of wanting newer games for the 3DS. disgaea would be okay if i had a psvita though, but thank you for the suggestions

i thought that was more of an action game than an RPG?

^ Monster Hunter doesn't use conventional leveling, but it's no less an RPG than Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, and it has the potential to eat up even more time.

Inazuma Eleven has 3 3DS entries and Devil Survivors 1 (Overclocked) and 2 (Break Record) are on the 3DS as well, so they'll still sate your 3DS RPG appetite.

Oh, and on that note, Rune Factory 4. It's a Action RPG/Life Sim/Farm Sim hybrid that I'd say it probably the best Action RPG currently on the system. Mechanically, Monster Hunter's certainly better, but Rune Factory is more versatile of a game and lets you do quite bit. It'll eat up about as much time as you let it.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, but when i tried to return super smash bros 4 today they accused me of copying it and said that was the only reason i would want to return it the day after i bought it. it will be a while, but i will take all your advice into consideration when i decide to risk buying another game, and when i do, it wont be from walmart.
